Title: strange issues after replacement of pcv and dv valves
Post by: SpiKiE on August 24, 2012, 10:01:45 pm
first of all sorry for my english, i am a litle bit rusty and dont know some technical terms..

i replaced the pcv valve for a N revision one and my C revision DV valve for a D revision.. my ride is a 2008 mk5 gti edition 30.

the strange thing happened when i put all together again and start the engine.. the engine struggles to keep running..drops the rpm below 500rpm..and it ends to turn off..if i accelerate to 1500rpm it keeps running..but again if i let off the gas it starts to do the same thing.

so it cames to my head "and if i disconnect the maf?" and i tried that...what a surprise..the engine idles correctly.. :surprised:

so, what is wrong??is my maf sensor that died?i dont know what to think :sad1:

Usually if the car runs better without the maf connected then it's more than likely bad.
In your case I would first recheck all your work looking of a leak.

i already checked the pcv work and apparently there are no leaks..
going to check DV tomorrow morning..

but if there is any leak, with the disconnect maf the engine should idle in the same way that is idling with maf connected, or am i wrong?

problem solved...
the pipe that goes from adaptor where the DV is attached to the intake wasn't properly connected..so there was a leak and the strange idling :)

now my ed30 gains a new soul  :jumping:
