Hi all
I don't have access to VCDS, but after some research it could be the lambda sensor - or something else.
I'm near Woking, dont't want to go to a stealer - anyone recommend a good independent?
I use Tesco 99, have had the car or 2 months, has a good history and is standard (for the the moment, looking to get it remapped), it's a 05 GTI.
The light came in yesterday, no performance problems. I could put some black tape over it :)
Cheers
Russ

Bradruss,
I had the PO411 on mine come up, it went out after I filled up with petrol. Seems to come on now and again when Ive got 1/4 tank left????? Never notice any drop in performance or change in how the car drives.
Check the pipes coming into the Charcole canister they can break, mine were fine.
On the scecond fault looks like you have a boost leak somewhere, first guess is your divertor valve has gone. Easy change to newer version pleanty of post on here do a search.

Car is back to normal, running like a new car, thanks to SqueegUK who replaced the DV (which was gone) and the PVC which may have been ok, top guy. Difference in pull and boost is staggering.
Now for SqueegUK to fit my audio parts :)

Hey Russ. Good to meet you and a pleasure to work on your car. Glad it's all sorted and you're pleased. See you soon. :happy2:

Hi Guys,
This is my first post, which makes me a n00b on here, and I have NO idea about cars and how to keep them running short of paying hideous amounts of my hard earned money to the dealership historically and never really getting much apart from being fobbed off and if i'm lucky a problem fixed.
I thought I'd turn to those that would actually be able to help and maybe even put it into some form of translated english that I could understand... and if I'm really lucky, I may get someone to show me a thing or two.
Anyway, I jumped on the end of this post as to me it seems the closest to what I am experiencing, and didn't want to create a new thread without searching, gladly I found this as I don't think I would have known what else to look for.
Right;
My Car: 2006 VW Golf 1.9 TDI SE (MkV)
My symptoms: Over the last couple of months, the yellow engine light, came on and a message saying "emmisions garage!" appeared on the display where the clock is, it stayed for about a week, then went off and stopped saying the message for a while after, then it appeared randomly again, and disappeared again... this has been on and off over the last couple of months.
My fiancee and I took it on a road trip to Italy end of August, and it did us proud, no problems what-so-ever, and just saturday night, the light came on again and the message, however this time, the performance of the car has decreased immensly, like the turbo isn't kicking in.
Now, a week after i bought the car (Oct 2010), the turbo stopped working (the dealer said it had gone into "Limp Home Mode") and they took it in, discovered the turbo to be faulty and replaced under warranty(!!), since then, on and off it's happened again, I randomly discovered that if while driving i flick the ignotion off, and back on it clears this "Limp Home Mode" and the turbo starts working again... whether this is bad for the car or not I don't know but it seems to work every time.
Now, I don't have any VAG-COM diagnostic system or anything to tell me what's wrong, nor do I have any mechanical knowledge to go looking for physical problems or testing for any, but I'm hoping someone here does/can.
If from the symptoms I have provided someone can assist in anyway at all I would be ever so grateful, however if more answers are needed, providing I CAN answer them with the limited knowledge I have, I will do my best.
Thank you so much to whoever lends an ear and some grey matter to my situation... I am hopeful that it can get resolved quickly as Bob (The name my Fiancee gave my car ) is currently off the road pending a successfull diagnosis and correct repair.
All the best folks,
Christian.

Hi Christian, sounds a lot like sticky VNT mechanism, find a local vagcom owner and scan it for faults, will likely show positive/negative deviation.
-
Thanks PDT, what does this mean in simpleton's terms?
I am in East Kent, nr Canterbury if anyone who has a vagcom near-by would like to assist??
I was looking on eBay *as you do* ... found this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wireless-Car-ELM327-OBD2-OBDII-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Interface-CAN-Bus-PC-Android-/180906894791?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2a1ee425c7
Would anyone have any comments as to a) whether it would connect and be of any use to the car, 2) would it assist me in a diagnosis for my current situation, and D) would it be of any use later on down the line, for the possibility of remapping the ECU for better fuel economy or whatever it is suppose to do?
It was mentioned to me that I can do lots for the car with something like this, and apparently I need to remap the ecu to improve performance and economy?? Any comments on this? I have no idea what this is in aid of but I'm all for better economy... I'd be happy to keep the performance the same as in the same as it was BEFORE it went bent on me at the weekend.
Comments, suggestions, advice, a visit by a nice helpful VW friend with tools and VAG-COM - all welcome!! (the latter option would be supplimented with a number of cups of Tea/Coffee and some bisuits too!!
Thanks in advance,
Christian.

Well, I have just had Kwik Fit run a diagnostic on it, and it has revealed 3 error codes.
I am going to pick the car up tomorrow afternoon, so I will post the error codes then... but from what the guy said the hoses were all loose, oil was leaking from somewhere (he did say but i can't remember as it baffled me) and air was leaking. He also mentioned something which I thought he meant it was sucking too much air???
Anyway, so far it will cost me £35 tomorrow when I pick it up. He mentioned at Kwik Fit that they won't touch the car to attempt a repair as they don't want to get involved with someone elses work and mess it up further?? The guy also said that he's unsure as to whether the turbo (which was replaced under warranty in Nov 2009) was fitted correctly. I find this hard to believe as VW fitted it (not that they are immune from mistakes) but the car has done around 50,000 miles approx since the turbo replacement, and would imagine that if it was fitted incorrectly it would have gone wrong way before now.
Anyway, if there is someone local to me who would be willing to have a go at tightening the hoses and looking etc etc, i would be very grateful, and would of course be happy to pay ... i'd rather pay someone who cares and who is confident rather than someone who couldn't care less as they get paid regardless!! I just hope that the cost to repair this won't run into the hundreds as that would mean the car would yet again be off the road for the forseable future.
I will post the error codes as soon as I have them in front of me to type up.
Thanks for help so far guys, and really hope and pray that it will turn out to be something fairly cheap to fix.
Christian.
