Hi all,
Took my car in for it's mot today and the high level rear brake light is inoperable :-(
Any tips what/where to check?

Unfortunately I'd say you've a bit of work on your hands:

Thanks for that.
I renewed the VW Warranty last week so will check with them if it's covered. Fingers crossed it is seeing that!

I'm guessing that they will say it's not covered like any other blown bulb.
Even if they cover it, the official vw way of sorting this is to remove the spoiler (it's glued on to the body). Because you usually damage paintwork when removing the spoiler, this will more than likely mean a trip to the body/paint shop after the repair.

There is a way round without removing the spoiler, looked it up it involves smashing the rear spoiler lights and yanking out the unit and replacing just that part.
If you don't find the thread il have look for it in the morning.

In the link above thanks!

I replaced mine last week, without a mark. Took my time, and used a plastic trim removal tool, just worked on one side at a time, all good. And dam glad I got it sorted

I did it recently. It was so easy, took literally 10 - 15 mins. The part was £53 inc. VAT.

Well VW have said that they'll cover it under Warranty. Result, as I only extended it last week :happy2:
