Post by: Syy on August 31, 2012, 10:06:54 am
Hi Guy's

Finally getting round to adding some much need options to my option less 08 Plate Ed30.

Can anybody tell me what's involved to get cruise control retro fitted to my car?

Ive found the stalk on eBay relatively cheap but that's, as far as ive got..

any help much appreciated :)

Cool thanks,

To confirm the car is standard no options, so no MFSW and no highline computer

ive just been to VW and they said i need the following part 1K00 546 90A and they said everything else is already in the car

The part is £60 +1.5hrs labour @ £60 ph (not too bad)

but  if i wanted to do it the cheaper way, i could purchase that part then try and find somebody with VCDS in my area that may be able to help code it for me?

Where abouts do you live? I have a tdi with mid line, no mfsw and i needed to change my steering controller to a better one. Me and my brother did it ourselves using a guide off here

It is a shame you are far away as I supply and fit for £90
but would fit the stalk for £20, just make sure your controller doesn't have the 638 HW or it won't work

Not hard at all really! Have you had a look on the vcds register if there is anyone close by?

My car is a 57 plate GTI with no MFSW or Highline and its was a simple fit & code jobby  :happy2:

Im sure your 08 plate will be the same

I'd advise getting the "g" revision as its more reliable than the older versions. I bought one off ebay for £44 delivered IIRC, its was brand new and works fine (fitted it myself in 45mins using a how-to on the Scirrocco forum  :notworthy:)

Have bought a cruise stalk 1K0953513G to retrofit to my 57 plate edition 30, will I encounter any problems with it having MFSW and Highline DIS?
I have vagcom, and believe I have to use long coding to activate it?

Will be following this thread if it is the same as the MK5, feedback much appreciated thanks

Me and a mate are going to have a go cheers, just want to know if having mfsw and highline means I already have the correct steering wheel control module

If you got mfsw then you will have a highline control module so no issues there
