Title: Yet another mk5 air con failure
Post by: Rover on September 01, 2012, 11:10:35 pm
Help, advice appreciated Gents,

My 2007 mk5 GT TDI has a bust air con compressor.
From reading this forum, I now realise this is a well known issue with model.

I intend to source my own compressor and get a trusted local garage to fit it. I have read and understand the requirement to flush the swarf out of the system.

I am informed that German ebay has some great quality new compressors. I believe I have found the right model on ebay from a company http://stores.ebay.co.uk/AC-Parts-Der-Kuhler-und-Klimaprofi?_trksid=p4340.l2563
Specifically http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150735590697?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649

I believe this is the right model, I have e-mailed them and asked if this was compatible for 2007 Golf 2.0 GT TDI (140ps/bhp), they said the needed the actual part number - not real helpful as I don't intend to strip it out personally or have two trips to the garage. Maybe it was my poor German or that I mentioned the war, once or twice and the 1966 World Cup!

Any of you guys have confidence that this is the right model?

Cheers Gents.

My motivation with the German supplier is they are supposed to be great build quality (Vorsprung durch technique and all that), and cheaper!

Cheers Matt  :happy2:

I'd definitely recommend getting the best pump you can afford  :ashamed:

A few might know about my issues with the AirCon, but for those that don't.....

ZEXEL £180 = Rubbish Bin

2wks after fitting and it's packed in. The system is clear and there is no resistance from the pump suggesting a blockage.

Shocking video of Zexel pump.

However, EuroCarParts are exchanging the Zexel unit for an OEM version plus they are paying for the labour too  :happy2:

ECP have gone Right up in my book  :notworthy:

Rover,
Bacillus's link is an awesome price for OEM.

I'd def recommend this one!!!

My aircon dosn't blow cold at all.  I've had it on VCDS and there are no fault codes, but does a broken pump give a fault code?

Cheers
