Hello all,
Right the black plastic rear bumper on a Golf GT TDI, think its called a valance? Please correct me if I'm wrong so I don't look like an idiot. Anyway! I got shunted in the back & there's no major damage but it's marked the top/edge of one side of the valance. Very minor but enough to annoy you.
Is there a way to straighten this out, cover up or simply fit a new one? If I was to have a new one then i'd probably go for a colour coded one, my other question is where would I get one of these parts from & who would fit it for me? I'm thinking a simple repair may be possible, I'll get pics up of the damage soon.
Anything else I should check after a shunt?
Cheers,
Mr Savage

You had better post some pics. Not sure which part you mean? Anyway rear valance from VW is about £50 IIRC, part number 1K6807521D9B9.

Cheers guys, looks like that's the one. The part that the number plate sits on. I'll post some pics when I get home.

I've cleaned it up a bit and the damage actually isn't all that bad, can probably fix it myself? What would you guys suggest to smooth this out?

If it was me I'd replace it as the cost isn't massive, I think whatever you do to clean it up it will always be visible

Are they simple enough to switch out? Mines the full valance without the gap for the exhaust.

Easy to replace, a few torx screws each side and 2 on the lower edge and then just pull it off
