Title: About time I said hello!
Post by: oliver73 on September 10, 2012, 02:09:04 pm
Hello everyone!

I've been a registered user on here for a month or two, after just looking around for however long! I'm actually an R32 owner, and a frequent member of R32oc, which I'm sure some of you know of.

I'm on here is because there's more people doing more things and its great to see and hear what everyone's up to in their mk5s, and not just the R32s. There are a few mods which are quite uncommon, especially for R32s, which I've found out more about on here. Take one recent mod - I had a highline retro-fit, after months of unsuccessful attempts of people trying to fit them, but I was shown a chap on here (kalu!) who did it in a heartbeat. Theres also lots of different interior and exterior things that people have done on here that I've not seen on r32oc, which is good to see.

Here's my baby:

That was when I bought her back in 2010. Since then I've:
Retro-fitted Leather R32 Recaros
Retro-fitted highline display
Had cruise control retro-fitted
Added a Non-resonated Milltek
Added a Forge Cold Air Intake
Had M-tec drilled&grooved brakes fitted

All with help from forum members of course!

And I'll soon be getting a version H RNS510 fitted, with a MFSW to come later in the year hopefully.

Welcome

That wheelie bin needs a cut and polish. It should come up nicely to match the rising blue. Needs bigger rims too

Gorgeous car btw  :notworthy:

Welcome to the forum Bud, the 32 looks real sweet. What's your opinion on the M-tec brake discs after running them in and did you go for the black edition units?

Thanks everyone :)

The M-tec brakes are lovely, after running them in I cant tell any difference with normal driving, but they haven't faded under heavy braking. Yes I did go for the black editions, they look awesome
They were much cheaper than OEM which is one of the main reasons I went for them, even after the added insurance premium. (aftermarket disks are classed as a modification, but pads are not)

Have you got any close up pics of the black discs?  Have you done all 4? And how much were they?

....oh and welcome to the forum Oliver  :happy2:

Yep, changed all 4 for a complete replacement/upgrade.

Ordered from M-tec, 4 disks with black edition coating, plus 4 mintex pads (which they supply & recommend) came to a total of £259 posted. Cant guarantee that price today, as they change overtime. If I had ordered from VW, parts only would have been £467!

Heres a couple of pics during & after fitting, with all black coating present.

I dont have a picture of them with the coating scraped off, but just imagine them silvery with dark black grooves & holes. Looks lovely
