I called VW lookers in Teesside earlier, where my recent gti purchase has its service history from, and they confirmed it had the recall done in 2008 and they called it fuel system software update..when i asked if that was the coilpack recall the girl said 'I assume so!!' I had to leave it at that as was at work but does that sound right??
I think she mentioned a recall code....something like 25k6 although I could have remembered that bit incorrectly!!

The code is somewhere in this thread but I don't think it is that one, begins with 28 iirc

Edit just found the code:
28F5-W-Ignition Coil
Also the "product enhancement" recall only effected cars up to a certain date

I will call again tomorrow to clarify, thanks

called Teeside again this morning.... they confirmed the recall done there was 25K6 in 2008 and looking on their database they could see the ignition coil recall 28F5 was done at Darlington in 2011. Good news!

Does anyone know what the recall is with reference "24K5?" Had a look about and can't seem to find anything. It's in the paperwork when I bought the car but I have no idea if it's for coil packs or something else?
