Hello all,
I collect my Mk V GTi on Thursday so thought I'd better introduce myself as I'm sure I'll being needing all sorts of help over the coming months whilst I get used to my new steed and its idiosynchronies. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting my hands dirty before many days have passed so will probably be asking all sorts of stupid questions - forgive me, but I will learn as time passes and hopefully I can then help others with less knowledge than myself!!! :happy2:

Welcome Scrappy, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here :happy2:
You'll get lots of inspiration and you will always be skint but hey.... you got an awesome motor :happy2:
(or at least you will have on Thursday)
Don't forget to post some pics

Many thanks Carlo. I've always been skint - but generally I've been lucky in picking my motors which haven't needed a lot of money spent so I just hope I'm lucky again. Already got it in mind to get the Bluefin upgrade tho as I've been used to 280bhp on my previous motor so the 200 will seem a bit slow maybe - we'll see!! It'll have to wait a few months though as the Missus wants a different car now!!! Ah well.

Thanks guys! I had (still have until Thursday) a Mitsubishi Legnum VR-4 (2.5l V6 Twin Turbo.- an extremely practical, fast estate which did everything I wanted for 6 years except use fuel ecocomically!! Altho it's a smashing car time dictated that I needed a change so here I am!! Golf GTI is more economical, smaller which is good and probably more fun to drive. Will it bring a smile to my face every time I drive it? The Legnum certainly did whenever I surprised people at traffic lights by being 50m ahead of them by the time they started off!!. Oh! the joys of motoring - not quite the same as it was years ago but you have to make the best of the situation don't you? :driver: :driver:

Many thanks guys. I feel welcome already and can't wait to take delivery on Thursday - might even ring up the current keeper and ask if I can collect early. Is impatience the sign of a good owner!!!
