street view no longer works in Maps  :fighting:.... Have they removed it?

Apple now use native maps not Google one of negatives being the removal of Street View. Bugger  :sad1:

Yep, Apple Maps has a long way to go before being useable in my opinion. I'd expect Google to release an app, just as they did with YouTube (you'll notice that has also disappeared from your home screen).

thankfully I still have an ipad1 that I can still use it as a work tool, but not sure I like Siri now on my iPad 3 :fighting:

To download it, on your iPhone.

Settings - Software Update

Would my iPhone 4 benefit from it?

Not as much as the 4S or the 5.

Be aware that the YouTube app has been removed (but you can get a Google version in the App store) and for maps they have ditched the excellent Google Maps and used their own which is still work in progress, still no Siri for you on a 4, its got over 200 hundred 'improvements'  most of which you will be hard pushed to see or use

Its the first upgrade since Jobs passed away and it shows, its still rough in some areas

I'm staying on 5.1.1 with my jailbreak  for now

Looks pretty decent but bot bothering, Still on 5.1.1 and would be lost without SBsettings. Ok not lost but it makes things so much better. I only have a weedy old IP4 and to be honest it does what I need it to do pretty well so balls to the new gen.

I had the same and also a problem with the app store.

resovled by manually setting the date to a random date 3-4 years in the future, trying to access the app store, then setting the date to auto again and then going back to the app store and it all worked fine.

This is what I can never understand. I updated, and yes, some of the new features are nice, but smooth? Everything was perfectly smooth with iOS5 on my 4S, and I don't think iOS6 is any "smoother". I think it's just a placebo effect...

People often expect things to become slower, choppy with an iOS update. Ive found the reverse. Seems very well optimised. As it should be with the 4S being fully supported by all iOS 6 functions.

Do you just try and troll all my posts on this forum Andrew?

It's called a response. If you don't like it you're quite entitled to ignore it. Believe it or not I didn't mean to cause offence, just express an opinion.

I think you might be flattering yourself thinking I'm circling you out.

And by the way, being a pretty self-conscious kind of person I checked my last 50 posts on this forum. I can see two replies to you that could be considered tongue in cheek at worst. Banter.

But I'll make a note that you're a banter-free zone.

Wheres the youtube app?

You need to download it from the App Store - Apple's rivalry with Google means it doesn't come packaged with the OS anymore.

Its always appears to be smoother after an IOS upgrade, all the log and cache files get wiped on the upgrade, then over time the logs build up slowing things down a touch

I guess I do run my phone light. I have very few apps and I don't store much music/video on it. I probably only ever use a third of it's capacity, so perhaps it's less noticeable for me.

i agree, its very minor and i personally have not noticed any difference in performance.

also if given the choice i would go back to ios5 just to have google maps back, apple maps is shockingly bad

A see a few people having problems connecting to wireless networks after upgrading to iOS 6 .. not good.

Post by: PDT on September 26, 2012, 11:19:20 pm
I had issues with 2 handsets after upgrading, one lost sounds, other lost wifi.

Both replaced FOC at apple shop.

Ios6 is good for some things such as 3G FaceTime and some better menu layouts such as attaching items to emails, but not a huge improvement.

My Sis in Italy is having loads of issues with wifi. Mainly Internet, FaceTime and iMessage.

Told her to get the phone exchanged.

Mine did lose wifi like yours Dave, straight after the update, but it has been fine since.

Apart from Maps (which I only use now and then) I really like the iOS6 changes  :happy2:
