Title: UPDATE 17 Monzas for 18 Monzas is it a good deal?

I've been offered straigh swap deal my 17 inch monzas with tires for 18 inch monzas with tires. My tires are conti sport 3 all round fronts 6 mm left and rears 4 mm left (done 10k miles on those). The 18 inch monzas come with budget tires Altenzo and Wantli. Both Monzas oroginal

Never heard of those brands but I will be getting new tires early next year after the winter. Both alloys with slight curbing nothing major.

Does it look like a good deal to you? Also is there a way to check alloys for originality or with the copies quality these days it's not possible???

Sounds like a strange deal as IIRC Monza + tyres are around £300 wheras Monza II alone reach £500+ depending on condition.

What's the offset and stamps on monzas 18s?

Am I correct in saying the for original monzas 2 the correct measurements are 7.5 x 18 ET 51 made by BBS

I am meeting this guy tomorrow for a straight swap.... My only concern will be checking originality on 18 inch Monzas. He claims they are original but whether I will be able to figure it out or not I am not so sure.

Read all threads here but if anybody wants to add some more info all is gratefully received!

As far as im aware all copys are et 51 !
There is a 90% chance they will say bbs aswell as the other 10% are ronal
If not walk away !

Post by: neg on September 22, 2012, 11:11:47 am: I did a similar swap a couple if years ago - had some slightly kerbed 18's, 2 worn tyres, 2 good which I swapped for some slightly better 17's with 4 good tyres.

I had the 18's on a Touran after selling my Golf and the buyer didn't want them - wanted to swap to 17's due to some rubbing

Very happy! My 17s alloys were slightly better condition but over estimated the tires condition - turned out mine were 2mm on the rear and 4 mm on the fronts - Conti SPorts 3. The ones I got with 18 inch are budget tires around 8 mm all around. Decided to compensate 50 euros to the seller for this fact as a good will gesture!

They are genuine 18 inch Monzas based on all the good info I got here which I will refurb come new year after the winter and new performance tires!
