Was sitting outside a while ago looking at my ED30, it was nice and sunny, I'd washed and waxed it yesterday, have to say its looking fantastic. I guess it dawned on me I'm lucky to have such a nice car.
How-ever, I always seem to find myself looking at other cars, thinking of changing, don't know why, something I've always done I guess.
Is it just me or does anyone else live like that, always looking for more, never contented. Maybe I need to meditate or take tablets, or be thankful for what I have?
-
i do it all the time but then i look at what i have and think u lucky twat not many people have what u have so just enjoy it
-
Im often the same as well, at work my two closest colleagues have a EVO 8 and a Skyline and i often think id like the perfromance of the evo or liner but at the end of the day they just arent me- IMO the golf is so subtle but attractive and the performance isnt shoddy at all, i coulnt sacrifice that for the jap rides!!
Plus i love the feeling you get when people say "is that your car? Wow its gorgeous!!"
Now if someone was to offer me a gallardo spider i might let the golf go :signLOL:

I look at Porsches nearly every day and marvel at how cheap they've become... then I remember what they cost to run/maintain!
-
Gotta say, coming from 2 Scoobys and an Audi S4, my GTI is suiting me quite nicely :happy2:
Had a moment of weakness the other morning where an M3 showed me what's what  (previous cars ate them for breakfast), but I take GREAT comfort in that my current car is MUCH cheaper to run, and isn't that far behind

I look at used E46 M3's every day, and if the right one came along I could be seriously tempted!
-
Love my Jap cars.. would deffo go back there...
but as been previously said, to maintain and run, Gordon is dandy for the meantime..
-
I'm the same with Porsche 911's
And a little with r32's (good ones)
-
Nope, can't say there is anything at the moment that can get near my cars for the requirements I have! :happy2:
-
There's only one car I want at the minute - the Scirocco R20.
I'm jobless at the minute so there's no way I could afford one, but when I see a Rocco on the road, I fall in love again!
-
no matter how good / nice or special our cars are , inevitably they become 'familiar' so we look to change.
thats why we mod it makes them change over time so they arent so familiar.
Lots of cars out there Id love to try but the current situation precludes that.
Im happy with what Ive got but that doesnt mean it doesnt need some extras
-
I thought about buying a second-hand Porsche or Beemer but they're too...common!

I am exactly the same. I had a white mk2 that i loved and spent a fortune on, i then got a mk4 1.8t that i again spent a fortune on and thought i was lucky to have that .
I remember looking at ed30s when they first come out thinking i would do anything to own one and now i have one! I look at it all the time and think what i could swap it for or what else i coud/should have bought and just dont appreciate how awesome it is :happy2:
-
All the time. Im looking at an audi RS4 avant next. I could get an M3 but the running costs are not worth it for a little bit more speed.
-
i know what you mean, i only bought my 1.9 tdi in december but am now thinking about changing it for a Gt. i want to do the GTi conversion but not sure whether its worth it.
by the way jules what rims are they on your golf?
-
Just standard R32 wheels mate. Im going to be a boring lemming and get some BBS CH's next, cant think of anything better after seeing this pic

.:R32 rims
Always looking to make changes and see what I can get, but nothing hits the spot right now, well within my price range anyway
Always risky trying a different set of rims, CHs are always a winner though :happy2:

I want Dave's plate V6 FFS :happy2:

What about this

:surprised:

I used to look at plenty of other cars, from the new GT-R to Porsche to M3 to RS4 although when I compare the grunt of most of them (GT-R excepted) they are only as quick as my ED30. The longer I keep her, the more attached I become and somehow I think it will have to be a seriously good car to pull me away from her loving arms :happy2:
Recently compared the performance stats of the Revo cupra to the new M3 and the cupra is faster in every increment apart from 0-20mph and over 120mph, so which is the fastest in the real world - then I think that mine is even faster with DSG!!! :surprised:
-
Mine is faster than both in the real rainy world :P
I wish :signLOL:

For the past 5-6 years I have changed my daily driver on average every 4 months. I have now had my ED30 5 months and I can honestly say I have no intention of changing it anytime soon. When I sit down and think about other cars I would like to own, they are either no practical enough in terms of running/maintainance costs or they cost too much in the first place.
The ED30 is a great balance of everything I need all wrapped up in a very subtle package and I feel very fortunate to be driving it.
I think thats one of the problem with modern society and its reflected in the current credit crunch. People have not been happy with what they have and everything has become desposable. Once you get what you want you then want something else. I fell in love with the ED30 the day I bought it and that hasn't changed and I won't let it!
-
I'm a bit restricted to what I can drive, I need Auto/DSG, 2 door (access), rear seats (wheelchair), large boot for chair when I have passengers. So I'm always on the look out for something, nothing out there at the moment would tempt me away from #0418 and I've had it 2 years which is a record.
Talk of an RS3 next year now that would be tempting

Oooh yes please, if your offering Jules that's very nice of you! :signLOL:

Ill check how much is in the sofa :signLOL:

I'm exactly the same...
Even today, I parked next to a colleague from Germany's R32 - blue, lowered on coilovers with Black 19'' OZ wheels, with a milly (nice car :happy2: ) and I have to say - I coveted it - even with all the road grime over it from his trip over from Germany.
It also happens strangely every time I see a Porsche 997 911....
-
I have had this all the time since I have had the derv hence me getting rid of the thing. I can honestly say I never pined for another car when I had my ED30 because it was such a weapon (obviously dream car, Lambo's etc.) Who knows what will happen with the S3 but I think I will be very content for a while :happy2:
-
....
During the nearly 4 years I've owned my GTI I've been lucky enough and privileged enough to drive all sorts of other performance cars and although I always expect to be, I have yet to be disappointed when I get back in my GTI.
[Cue for my extensive portfolio of pics of me sitting in cars giving the one-finger salute?]
She suits my needs perfectly - A truly excellent allrounder. The only thing that worries me is how long she'll go on for - I'm coming up to 70k miles.
I'm the same with ladies: If I'm in a relationship I don't feel any need to wander (ok, I might just look at the eye-candy but I'll do nothing about it). I've always been like that.
I'm always tempted by mods though!

Is that in the relationship :signLOL:

My favourite supercar is the LP560 Lambo in that bright green, but I also love this beastie and think it's a bit like a muscular GTI! : -

Probably a Marmite car for most people.
