My car show sjust above 6500 miles.
It states it needs a serive in 6600 miles, or 62 days.
Im guessing its on T&D servicing - yet I thought T&D service was 1 year or 10,000 miles - not 13,000?!
How much should I expect to pay for the first service?
As I do mainly motorway and A roads (40 miles per day) would I be better suited to LL servicing??
-
Anyone??

My first service was £115 at a VW Dealer. Was originally supposed to be getting it done for cost price as my mate works at VW, but credit crunch and all that got it cut off.
I think T_T over on the other site said it should be 10,000 miles or 12 months for this engine regardless of how it is driven. Mine covered nearly 12,000 before it counted down.

The service light will come on if the oil sensors determine that the oil needs changing regardless of what regime you're on.
Stick with the T&D regime...
-
£115 is cool - I had £250 in my head for some reason?!
-
id say between £125 - £160 for first t&d service..
£250 is more the 40k service, which is your major one..
as above, the service indicator is determind by oil sensors and the kind of journeys you do..
-
Yup cheers.
I think Im on the T&D regime - since the car was first registered in August 08. The highline display tells me the service is due in 62 days - which is in August 09.
Do I need to request they use the LL oils - or do all the dealers just use this now?
Also, is this an extra cost? Is that £125-160 you said, including the LL oils?
-
If you want LL oil when on T&D then it'll cost extra but IMO worth it.

WRONG. The oil quality sensor readings are NOT used when the SID is set to T&D. Where did you get that duff info from?

Agreed. :happy2:

Tell me more: have you owned the car from brand new or not?
And to be really pedantic, the T&D regime goes up to a maximum of 365 days from the last service, or a maximum of 9,321 miles from last service - whichever occurs first. Just to clarify, whilst we all generally refer to T&D being every 10k miles, or LongLife upto 20k miles, we arn't being exactly correct - simply because the VWAG system uses kilometers as its 'reference unit'. So T&D is every 15,000 kilometers, and LongLife is upto 30,000 kilometers. With some simple calculations, that is how it works out at less than exactly 10k miles! :drinking:
Anyway, sommat dont quite sound right!

The oil quality sensor is ONLY used if the car is on LONGLIFE - which is how the LL regime can be variable. If the car is set to T&D, then there is no variation at all - either 365 days, or 9,300 miles, whichever occurs soonest. :innocent:
You might like to read up on the intricacies of the different regimes again!

Erm, from December 2008, ALL VAG stealers MUST use official LL oils in all cars (which are LL enabled - so basically all model year 2001 and newer) even if they are on T&D. But sadly, some stealers still don't seem to understand that! :fighting:
