I'm presently using 18" Monza 2s on my golf. If I were to use 5mm spacers, would the oem bolts be long enough or would I need to get longer ones?
-
I would have thought you would have needed longer bolts :happy2:
5mm is 5mm lest of a thread holding your wheels on
-
Whilst I see your point, do you know what length of thread protrudes from the hub with the standard bolts+Monza combo?

Longer bolts on anything 5mm or greater... you should have min of 7 full turns into a hub I was told...

Ok, so what bolts should I be looking to get?
-
Measure yours and add 5mm, noting whether radiused or tapered... loads of places supply bolts to suit, try dpm performance...
-
I would test them first, before splashing out, i reckon you should be close to the originals being long enough. :happy2:
If you do a search on here for the member, "The Wheelman'" one of his threads should come up with good info on replacement bolts, sizes.

Standard bolts are 27mm iirc
-
My wheel fell off using standard bolts and a 5mm spacer.
£700 down the line I'm still paying for it! Get some extended ones mate :happy2:
-
Issue with running 5mm spacers is that the wheel doesn't sit on the hub any more and this can cause wheel wobble. I would always advise running a 10mm hubcentric spacer and longer bolts to suit.

How can I do away with my 3mm buggers

Grind your brakes down! Or change wheels! :scared: :scared:

I'll not have to worry about my bolts not being long enough anymore

Just to bump this up, if using longer bolts what do folk do about a locking wheel nut?

Use extended locking bolts dear henry, dear henry :signLOL:

Im pretty sure I would use longer bolts for anything 5mm+. Just to be on the safe side and as above.. .Do you really want to see your wheel fall off? Let alone the damage that can cause!

Holy sh1t, that was a close one :scared:

If I'm running oem monzas, do I need radius bolts?
-
Radius for oem, tapered for aftermarket usually...
