Jag E-type :notworthy:
-
Sky + has been set!! :happy2:
-
Glad to see that Bernie has ditched Lepu, can you imagine what he would do to an E Type! :surprised:
-
.
Good to see such cars getting driven - I saw this one at a speed hillclimb a couple of weeks ago:

There was also a C-type Jag at the same event :notworthy:

30 minutes in, what a sack of American-esque crap.
Bullsh*t tension, fake drama, amazing 'finds'.... that exhaust they got lucky with had a flexi and lambda probe, it was about as E-Type as my arse.
I'm switching to BBC2, Nigella's back.
-
Agree about the fake "disasters"

Sunroof is joke
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

great paint job
-
can't believe the sunroof, why the f"ck didn't they put a webasto one on :stupid:
-
£30K valuation -----really !!!!!!
-
^^^^ Watched it and thought about £30k ish in that condition (lot of bloody filler ), probably needs at least that again to get it up to a presentable state. Not sure if an S2 4.2 left hooker is worth much more than £70-£80k fully resorted. Really don't get the sunroof though??
-
Just watched this on 'five on demand' the chuckle brothers meet wheeler dealers  worth a watch, that bloody sunroof :fighting:, not enough car programmes on the telly (not pc enough I suppose)

I remember watching American Hot Rod about Boyd Coddingtons shop and his bodywork guys used exactly the same techinique on their cars , huge swages of filler getting sanded down with those long sanding blocks - he was charging $$$$$$$$$$$$ for his cars though! Whoever fitted that sh*te sunroof in that E Type orginally needs strung up btw!

Is that Gurston down in Broadchalke?

Is that Gurston down in Broadchalke?
....It most certainly is Gurston Down
Not the greatest for spectating but a very good turn out of cars.
Here's another classic Jaguar at the same Gurston Down event:

^ Jaguar C-type.
I grew up with a friend whose family had a D-type and also a full race 3.8 saloon as well as other very fast cars - All road legal and before the feckin' 70 mph limit got introduced.
-
I watched the prog. I didn't think Signal Red was a genuine Jaguar colour (the presenters said it was)
I thought Carmen Red was the correct red shade of the day

....If I see the driver of that red E-type in the pic I posted at the next meet, I'll ask which red his is. I think the E-type in the TV prog was perhaps more of an orange red - Difficult to tell.

As far as the colour red, S2's came in Signal Red or Regency Red, S1's came in only Carman Red. They were correct with the colour (but that's about it!)
:happy2:

^^^^
Is the 3.8 E-type a S1?
-
^^^^ yeap :happy2:

You just need to walk down to the finish/hairpin/jump.
-
^^^^
Thanks, Martin :drinking:
In that case the E-type in my posted pic is a S1 3.8 in Carmen Red. I thought it looked a slightly different shade to the one in the TV prog.

....I only walked up the hill as far as the Karousel hairpin > Deer's Leap into Ashes Bend and not as far as the Finish. Next time...... :happy2:

Yes Its a Series 1 3.8 in Carman Red. 3.8's only have a "Jaguar" badge on the back (as in your pic), 4.2's have a few bits in their rear badge, also the front headlights are encased (also pictured), S2's are open. Loads of slight modifications between the series but they never messed with that beautiful shape, thank The Lord :notworthy:

....Halleluja !! Halleluja !! :notworthy:
The E-type was the latest state of the art when I was a young lad first becoming interested in cars.
-
Next week these two doughnuts will be giving a Porsche 911 the max power treatment,
Can't wait :indifferent:
-
^^^^ :signLOL:
You never know, it might end up with spinners on it and neons under it if Bernie's previous is anything to go by!
-
.
If last week's episode is anything to go by, this week's featuring a Porsche 911 might not be worth watching. But we'll see..........
-
^^^ Don't want to post a pic of the finished Porker and spoil the surprise but I like it and its being given away as well
Link to a pic of finished 911

^^^^
How come you have already seen this prog, Martin? :surprised:
-
^^^^ not seen it Robin, just read the preview on the interweb and saw the pic', me like you, is waiting :drinking:
-
That front bumper looks awful! :scared:
-
22k  no serious porsche enthusiast would touch it with a barge pole
-
That front bumper looks awful! :scared:
More than awful, needs the original "bellows" front and rear bumpers IMO.
22k  no serious porsche enthusiast would touch it with a barge pole
Would offer him £12k-£15k max (maybe), could be worth upwards of £70k fully restored to concourse condition. But as its free to whoever wins it, happy days!
:happy2:
-
Absolute crap hated him that other rubbish show he was in. Name escapes me with lipu(sp) where they built a hideous mk2 for Johny Vegas

That car perfectly restored to concourse condition may make £35k but nowhere near £70k :innocent:
I think the programme is very irritating with the made up arguing , shouting swearing , walking out etc . Bit like X factor !
-

....Very irritating - The format of the first 2 progs has been exactly the same and is now very predictable. I shan't be watching any more in the series.
-
Tonight the two numbnuts will be ruining I mean restoring a MGB GT
Next week it'll be a Ford Mustang :surprised:
I only watch because it's a motoring theme programme.
-
I'm glad he didn't get his mitts on that Helios Blue Campaign MK1 :scared:
-
Leepooooo will sort it
That poor yank having to put up with Bernie.
-
This is a comedy show!
-
Classic Car Rescue could have been OK if not for the casting of Large and Larger.
The similarly themed US shows - American Hotrod, American Chopper, Desert Car Kings are a teensy bit more believable and their contributors have proper tattoos (!) but these 2 muppets barely know how to drive let alone restore a car. Putting a whale tail on a non Turbo 911 is very 'Top Trumps' ie. juvenile and the production had some fancy graphics generated to show us how the spoiler works. They should have spent more money casting some proper enthusiasts who can do the spannerwork, writing a proper camera script and finding a decent non-suburban location rather than the decrepit arches under Canons Park Tube station at the end of the Jubilee Line. Very disappointing.

.
I'm going to watch BBC4 "Timeshift" instead - History of the Great British Sportscar. 9:00pm.
-
They are a pair of bellends, pure comedy fools. :fighting:
-
The two chimps are messing up a Ford Mustang tonight,
-
I think the programme is very irritating with the made up arguing , shouting swearing , walking out etc . Bit like X factor !
It makes the X factor look like Newsnight. Totally faked for the camera, but not even done well.
I didn't enjoy the 911 programme, but gave them another chance for the MGB. That was just a travesty, putting chrome bumpers on a car with later US-spec suspension. And the colour!
They can do what they like to the Mustang - I won't be watching.
-
It's a different program tonight.....apart from Bernie.
What a Two-Hat :fighting:
God knows what the Americans/Canadians think of Bernie and his English mechanics :stupid:
-
Did you see Mario "drop" the windscreen...
-
The Numpty's are destroying a 1950's Cadillac tonight
I watch this because it's so bad it's good
-
.
I gave up on watching this series after the first two. And especially after watching the excellent "How Britain Works" by biker Guy Martin last night this prog would disappoint me even more.
-
^^^^ gave up too. Destroying my dream cars is not a good thing to watch! Really enjoyed the prog' with Guy Martin in, as he would say "it's a proper programme".
:happy2:
-
Not a bad one this evening.
-
Not a bad one this evening.
I must admit I didn't think it was too bad tonight either.
-
Fell asleep before the end (watching it later on Sky+) so after reading Mr H and Mr O's encouraging words I may try again tonight!
-
^^^^^^^^
much better this week :happy2:
that guys underground bunker is something else  (shame its full of caddy's)
-
Where's CAPTAIN BRITAIN? I've missed his humourous synopsis of this week's edition of this televisual feast!
-
I'm sorry, I forgot this heads up thread yesterday,
Well it was a 1970's mini this week and the twin twats managed to do something no one else had done before........
They Actualy managed to polish a turd!
-
