My 2005 GTI which has full history has now done 80k and as never had the DV changed for a revised one
is this necessary if so what's the best revision to go for ?
It's never been mapped,standard 197BHP
Oh and is there anyone in the Brum area happy to do this for some beer-tokens please :notworthy:

i,be been told that the latest S3 one is the one to go for better than the forge one I priced one up at about £57 all in from Audi got one trade just under £50 from Audi
part number I used was 06H 145 710 D but please check this first
maybe some old hands can confirm this

Your Diverter valve will be the original Diaphragm type. They often split with boost, also with age as it is just rubber type material. Doesn't mean it has split though. If you are going to replace you should use revision D or newer. It is a fiddly job on a KO 3 car, you will need it on a ramp or axle stands at the least. :happy2:

Oh and dont waste your money on the fraudge one. not as good, causes its own problems and needs maintenance. :wink:

Being 7 yrs old and the original rubber one, probably best to change it for the revision D
Anyone in the Brum area interested ? or ideas on price with labour, I believe it's AXX engine-code

The consensus now is for the Revision G, and is cheaper than the D! In R Tech (tuner in Hinckley) it held boost better than the D! IMHO get a remap with them, and according to them to replace the DV is a simple job. Beware thou, its a slippery slope! ;-)
Certainly by all means if somebody here can fit it for u, forget all above (at your peril)! Check on Search for part number for the G, costs about £37 from a dealer!

You could have it removed and inspected. It may be perfect (I checked my 07 recently and it was perfect) in which case you could keep it and spend the money on cocaine. :smiley:

to replace the DV is a simple job.
It's not difficult per se, but is fiddly and time consuming.

For what it's worth, it's dead easy to change if you've got a standard undertray. If the car was parked with the right handside on a kerb and you're not a portly squire, you could easily crawl under, reach up the back of the engine and change. Can be done in a matter of minutes.

For what it's worth, it's dead easy to change if you've got a standard undertray. If the car was parked with the right handside on a kerb and you're not a portly squire, you could easily crawl under, reach up the back of the engine and change. Can be done in a matter of minutes.
Have you tried it? I had mine on ramps and it took about 45 minutes. Perhaps in mitigation it was because it was my first time (fnarr). I found the working room limited and I was also working blind to remove/replace the top bolt.

I'd give Midland VW in Cannock a bell. They'll sort it for you for a reasonable price. Jody (the gaffer) does tend to prefer the rev D tho but if you ask for the G they'll fit it for you no probs.

I would go with the Revision G. If you do go for the D, I believe there is a new one without a cage (not sure what's it is actually called) around the end, seen it mentioned on here slew here.

Call me stupid, but what is a diverter valve? :drool: Keep hearing people on here talking about them, but I have no idea what it is. I have had my 05 GTI (unmodded) from new and never had anything done to mine. What difference do the revision ones make? Are they simply more durable or do they actually have some performance improvement?

The diverter valve cuts off the flow of boost to your engine when you lift off the throttle, and recirculates the air back round the system to reduce turbo lag when you plant your foot again. Its a small part that sits on the side of the turbo.
The newer revisions are more durable than their predecessors (early ones are very prone to splitting and leaking boost), no performance improvement with the newer ones :happy2:

Others will prob comment on the technical side of what the DV is actually for, but mine is also a 2005 GTi. I had my DV changed in June to a Rev G. Im glad I did cause the stock Rev C was indeed split! Now, I had a lot of mods done around then, and at same time, so cant comment as to what benefit that change alone mite bring, but for the sake of £37, id do it out of precaution alone! Id even go as far as to suggest that if yr current DV is split, this mite actually be the most important mod out there, if one could call it a mod!?

Chances are, you ask a dealer to check yr DV, they will respond with, 'What's that?', lol!!

Haha you're probably right. I use my local independant specialist these days, so they're more likely to know what they're doing.

Yep - it's a doddle. Did it on the driveway just by reaching up the back of the engine, whilst the OSF wheel was on a block of wood.

Ahh so you weren't working blind because you could see the bolts through the wheel arch? Or am I getting this completely wrong?

On my back under the car. You can see / feel your way around sufficiently.

Changed my dv yesterday to the Revision D one. The old one was in mint condition with no tears of splits.... and thats after 72k :driver:
