I've bought stuff from China and US without problems. Just make sure the seller has a good rating and pay with Paypal should in case the item isn't as described and you need dispute/refund backup.

For something fairly big and expensive you may also get stung by Customs, especially when buying from America. Factor this into any saving you have by buying abroad.
Usual practise, buy from trusted sellers, check feedback for other foreigners leaving good words, ask for a secure shipping method (airmail & tracked).

You should be fine. I bought loads of RC stuff over the years from HK. If you don't get it or something goes wrong, you still have PP protection, which is so much better these days. What is it you looking for? I can try get you a good price from Apex Models, Richard is a good mate of mine. See if we can save you the worries from getting it from HK and possibly getting stung with customs, etc.

Ebay user ID.
captain.hobby cheap but not the best packing in the world, if your a true RC nerd fan and don't want a creased box then best to avoid.
empire.rc no comment don't know them.
rc.sausage.dog Always good reviews
leg_tin no comment never used
stella-models always good reviews and best packing.

I'm after a avante 2011 model...apex models do it for £450

Wow, that's crazy money, really out of touch nowadays. That's the price of a good nitro chassis. I got one of the originals, if I had the time to spend on my cars, I would need to get in touch with Tamiyoman for some spares for it. What's the total with shipping you getting from HK? I'll have a word with Rich tomorrow and see what he can do.

Ok, cool.
You could also try dinball (aka rcmart) and rc-mushroom. Used them before no issues.
