Why does my Porter Cable 7424 say "ONLY USE 5" PADS"

I wan to use a spot pad with it really!

Does it say that on the backing plate? I think you have to fit a smaller backing plate for smaller pads.

No, it says it on the counter weight. I have a smaller bcking plate for the smaller pads but dont know why it would say not to use them

It's because the counter weight is only designed to counter 5inch pads. You can get lighter/heavier counter weights for different size pads. Although I never had any issues using smaller pads with the 5'' counter weight on :happy2:
