Title: powder coating wheels
Post by: JackG on October 04, 2012, 02:42:23 pm
Guys my dad will pay for a wheel refurb for my pesscys for xmas, i want high power chrome like on robins monzas
I spoke to A1 wheels and they quoted £125 per wheel......that seems expensive  to me  :scared: so i was wondering where else to get them done at a good cost
I need powder coated wheels but id rather spray them once in a while for that price and theres not much work goes into powder coating

Any help will ge great  :happy2:

Send all of my wheels up to Mike the polisher in Glasgow. Wouldn't trust anyone else.

Thanks dan  :congrats: he's on my list to ring monday!
I've also been told the wheel specialists are good? The one in Tewkesbury...they do all sorts of stuff...check out "renovate The wheel .com I think it is"

Does anyone else have any input! Am I right in saying 125 per wheel is too much?!
Jack

I would say yes its too much for simple powder coating.

My last set of splitrims with magnesium lips only cost me £520 from Mike including him:
Arranging courier to and from glasgow where he is based
Splitting the wheels
Welding the magnesium lips where curbing had occurred, then mirror polishing them (Cannot even see weld)
Media blasting centres and barrels
Welding damage on 1 centre
Powdercoating 4x centres in RAL-6018 bright green
Powdercoating barrels in gloss black (Inner and outer)
Ceramic polished bolts
Lacquered centres to make the green colour more vibrant
Reassemble the wheels in correct manner and correctly torqued bolts.

So for a place to charge £125 per wheel for simple powdercoating thats why I think its expensive.

I'll try and dig some pictures out of them fitted to the car, really suited the black car

Here we go

It appears photobucket has killed the quality

Might be a bit late now, but I just got my Monzas powder coated in Smoked Chrome. It cost £78 a wheel including tyres refitted and balanced etc. That was even a higher standard than most places do, it was 3 separate different coatings. All done in a day! Silver Wheels in Ferndown.

Cheers, I'm well chuffed with them! They go real nice with a black car. Pictures can't really do them justice though as they look different and the colours change according to what angle you view them at and how the light is shining on them.

a1 wheels have done a number of wheels on this forum including 2 sets of mine.
Have you double checked that price with them as they are usually competitive.
