I've been told today that the rear brake pads have little life left in them, so I'm thinking of doing a a disc and pad change..
Does anybody have any advice on what make to get genuine vw or brembo, tarox etc
I usually try to up grade when oem parts wear out!

Get brembo items from GSF,

I recently changed my discs and pads all round to tarrox f2000 and must say they're a vast improvement on standard! I'm like you always try to upgrade from oem parts. :driver:

.
One option might be OEM S3 or R32 rear brakes. The discs are slightly bigger and vented. If you ever upgrade your front brakes to a Big Brake kit, you'll then have very well balanced and powerful braking overall. Bear in mind that ~80% of the braking on the Golf is on the front.
