Title: Converting From Standard Lights to R32 Xenons
Post by: glasgowdubber on June 14, 2009, 11:29:51 am: Do you need any settings changed through vagcom to use these, or is it just a straight forward swap over of the actual headlights?

Do you have the headlight washers and levellers already as these are necessary for the car with xenon's to pass the MOT.

I thought the levellers were built into the headlight? No I don't have the washers yet, need to price them from VW still.

You will be able to pass your MOT without levellers and washers, but it isn't strictly legal if you ever get pulled over etc...

I take it all the above can be aquired from a VW dealership?

You need some sensors that are placed on the axle which connect to the leveller mechanism.

Post by: DaveB@Vagbremtechnic on July 11, 2009, 09:56:43 pm: There was a mod on the Mk4 which involved enabling a couple of repair wires on to the standard kufatec adaptors which enabled the leveling rheostat on the dash to control the levelling motor in the xenons. The wiring mod was in the headlamp itself - anybody done it on the Mk5???

Post by: DaveB@Vagbremtechnic on July 13, 2009, 08:07:50 am: Anybody brave enough to hack away at some MK5 Xenons, its almost as wreckless as the Mk4 "Joey Mod" which involved seperating the glass from the housing and painting the inserts black, we need a wiring guru to see if the mod is the same and may work. I had this done to my Mk4 and it worked an absolute treat.

A starting point may be if the Mk5 kufatec adaptors are the same as Mk4 ones
