Title: castrol magnatec 5w 30 fully synthetic

.... is this oil ok to use on a 57 plate gti long life servicing? Just had to get some & that was the only choice I had!  Thanks

It will probably be OK to use, but Castrol Edge meets the VW 504/507 specification and has all sorts of technology in it to help keep the valves clean which really is the right oil for the car.

Magnetic is for fords and a few other brands where as Edge is for VW, Audi and a few others.

I was looking at it earlier as my GTI and the OH's new fiesta are both 5w30 but have different specs the oil must meet

Thanks for your replies.... have to drive 90 miles tomorrow early start too so won't get chance to get the proper stuff. Oil level low too on dip stick.  Should I just leave it for now and not top up with what I have?  Oil light not on ... yet!

Put a splash of the oil in, it's not going to do any harm  :happy2:

Get some Castrol Edge next time your passing an Asda (cheapest place for it)  :happy2:
