Post by: Kinks on October 12, 2012, 01:26:57 am
Hi folks, can anyone recommend vw mechanics in the Stockport area? I have just bought an 09 plate and want the dsg servicing etc. it's only done 30k but in aware that at 3 years they recommend a new cam belt?? Is that right? As its stated as 80k or 3years

Statllers in Sheffield comes highly recomended by lots of folk on here - including me  :happy2:

They were also the cheapest price for cambelt & waterpump I could find  :notworthy:

Definetely worth a (near) 1.5hr drive for me - although will be less than an hour from Stockport.

I think the timing belt is 4 years/ 60K miles, whatever comes first. It's worth getting the water pump done at the same time. DSG service is 40K miles regardless of age.

I suggest Awesome in Eccles if you want servicing and dsg service.
For just normal routine servicing, Prosport in Heaton Mersey can be recommended having recently switched from Subaru to VW specialist.

Cool so at 30k not worth worrying about the dsg yet?

As suggested earlier, Awesome in Eccles/Irlam or alternatively Votex in Congleton, Cheshire: http://www.votex.ltd.uk/

I've had all my servicing, etc. work done at Votex for the past 5 years. It's a proper back street independent VAG specialist garage that's been about for decades. Never had a problem and always a competitive price.

I had a quote from Votex for Cam belt, water pump and engine mount stretch bolts. Came in at £168 more than Statllers   :stupid:

When I lived in Stoke I took my car to vRSAlex in Bedford. It's worth the trip, trust me.

Mike aka Tony Danza will firmly recommend Votex in Cheshire. Looked after a few of his cars. His mk4 was spot on and very well cared for.  :happy2:
