Hi All
Anyone know any VAG specialists within a reasonable distance of Watford? My ED30 is approaching 40K fast! Been quoted £179 by my local dealer but surely we can do better than that!
Cheers
-
That's not a bad price!
-
Agreed, price seems OK
-
Yep good price. Get your wallet out tight arse!! :P
-
Ask alex at AKS... see what he charges.
If that quote was from VW bushy.... they i would strongly advise not to take your car there!
-
it is from Citygate VW in Bushey - I take it you've used them before?!
-
Yeah.. they are crap. They put a chaps timing belt on wrong on his Edition 30 last year... :scared:
Seriously... ask alex! :happy2:
-
Just had a quote of £139 from Total Vag in Leighton Buzzard - anyone know anything about them?
-
£179 is the standard price from VW/AUDI dealers :happy2:
I paid that for my Edition 30's DSG service a few months ago.
-
Paid £160 at Stoke Audi in March or so, so it can be had for cheaper
-
Just had mine done at VW Shrewsbury paid £169 plus fuel from Stafford.... probably should of used Stoke as it is closer .... Stafford VW is even closer but I wouldn't let them touch my lawn mower :booty:
Cam belt is due next month as well .... this bloody car has costing me a fortune :surprised:
-
With DSG i would consider that if it was done with a VW dealer then if something should go wrong later, than you may have better chance of it being covered via goodwill by VWHQ when out of warranty. Has worked for me.

From what I understand, it's not a 2min job either.
The dsg oil used costs about £100 so with the labour on top the margins are very tight.
I'd say the £180 dsg service is just one of those costs you have to accept in the end.
....if you are anywhere near AKS get over to Alex :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
-
You'll not get it much cheaper as like Monte said the oil is £100.

You can reduce your costs if you supply your own VW dsg oil.

Is that enough for a service? It says he does the filters as well. You can do it yourself with a syringe but it takes ages.
Alex at AKS has the tool now I think. It just screws in the place of the filter I believe?

The VW price includes vat I think so no point.
