A very sad announcement for some but I'm glad to say I've seen her a good few times including getting up close and personal with cloths and white spirit. She will continue in some shape or form as a ground display maybe fast taxi's.
Enjoy her while she flies.
More here.

Without trying to be a little cynical.......
Do they not say this every year?
-
I hear ya Nath but not this time sadly. Costly airframe mods coupled with limited engine life mean the end is nigh.
They have never painted the picture like this before.
-
Well in that case, fingers crossed that someone will stump up the required readies to keep her airborne! :sad1:
-
6 numbers and I would do it.
-
Very sad. I'm gonna make every effort to get to see it a few times next year. :-)
-
How much do they need to spend on it to keep it going?
-
Today's announcement isn't to do with money more engine life and airframe fatigue.

I was chatting to a chap on the Vulcan to the Sky stand at Car Fest North and he was explaining that the front wing spars need replacing which is a mahoosive job. In my opinion, they've got to do it and keep her flying if the funds can be raised. There were a few aircraft displaying during the weekend including the BBMF, a Meteor and a couple of Tornados but it was only the Vulcan that brought the whole place to a standstill with everyone looking skywards in awe. At the end of the display she got a massive round of applause which made my eyes go all watery!

I know the feeling.
