Hi guys I know this is not the right section but I need urgent help so was hoping this would attract more attention. I'm in desperate need of help as currently my car interior is all over the place and I need to use the car later (idiot me for assuming I'd fix it easily!)
I've tried to fix my aux interference issue today and now not only have I not fixed that but the CD option on the unit is greyed out!? Have I broke it? :scared:
I read it was a black connection you had to move from pins 2 - 3 however the only connection in 2 was a blue cable!?
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fj102%2Fstav2006uk%2Fmainconnector.jpg&hash=e053fc2008c9d721c9d6756e56394b6b5d563ea7)
That's the main connection I have.

That's the connectors from the aux which are in the following:
1 - Nothing
2 - blue (although it does appear there is some black sheath further down on it)
3 - Nothing
4 - Nothing
5 - Nothing
6 - Black
7 - Nothing
8 - White
9 - Pink
10 - Yellow
11 - Green
12 - Red
Assuming I'm reading it the right way or could it be the opposite way round and 1 is in fact red!?
Does anyone have any idea how I can not only fix the interference but also what the hell has happened to my cd option? :(
Any help will be greatly appreciated and I will be eternally grateful!

You really need to post a pic of your pin out diagram at the top of the unit.

Pin 2 into Pin 3

Also it's an "Ipod connection kit" that was fitted by VW Lookers in Teesside.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Pin 2 into Pin 3
Hi Eddie, thanks for the reply!
I tried this and I got absolutely no sound from AUX.
Any idea on why the CD option is also greyed out?
-
I think it's the other way round where pin 1 is the red wire so yellow & green need swapping over.
If you have moved the blue wire then that might be something to do with the cd so as the wire has been moved its not getting a signal so greyed out the option?
-
Cheers for the advice MB. Tried that to no avail as well.
Now I have a RCD510 that is only good for the radio as the cd option isn't there anymore :sad1:
Gutted isn't the word :(

Is that pin out for your rns510?
What unit did your car originally come with? You really want the pic of that unit's pin out to compare with the rns510 to determine how to position/move the connector plug wires.

That's the pin out for my RCD510. As far as I'm aware the Ipod connection kit was fitted to the RCD510 and not a previous unit.

Is your ipod connection under the armrest?
What was the original unit in the car, rcd 300 or rcd500?
I'm confused why you don't have a black wire in either pin 2 or pin3 as they are ground wire pins for the rns510 for cd and aux in. Don't know why you've got a blue wire at pin 2. Did you swap wires around then take the pic?

The original was the RCD 300. The output came directly from behind the head unit and out of the interior trim near the ash tray. Just a simple headphone jack.

See my revised post above.
Do you still have the rcd300 as posting a pic of the pin out diagram may help sort this out. I suspect it's similiar to a rcd500 but not sure.

Hi can I just say many thanks for the help it's greatly appreciated. I don't have the RCD300 I'm afraid the car came with the RCD510 already in and the AUX input.
I have found this though if it will be of any use to you?

Edit: Just to say that's exactly how the cables were before I moved anything. All I tried was moving the blue cable from 2 --> 3 and not only did I get no sound from the AUX but my CD option is now greyed out as well.

Is it possible/easy to check to see if the blue pin 2 wire is really originating from your aux input? If so, what colour is the other wire from it? Just speculating that it's wired incorrectly.

That whole black connector with all the wires is the AUX input. It's the connector end that goes into the back off the RCD 510. The other end is a black box with a headphone jack socket from which a headphone jack cable comes out that I can plug into a phone etc.

Here is the image from Elsawin.

Seems like your wiring there is out of whack with what is showing on the image.
Best bet is to follow the wires from the plug and see what they link up to on the CD player using the pin numbers as per the image. It's difficult to say which wire goes where as they are all different to the image.
Send me a pm with an email address and I will forward that image onto you.

PM'ed :)

Just an update to air my confusion for you all.
Since I made this thread I have been without the cd player, which just refused to work anymore. Kept saying medium not available when I pressed the media button. For some reason today however, the unit ejected a CD on its own as I was driving to work, took it back in and now the cd player is working as normal?
