Title: Dmac1969's 2008/58 Candy White GTI
Post by: dmac1969 on October 13, 2012, 05:55:06 pm
Hey all
I picked my new GTI up today , traded my Red 05 plate with 52300 on the clock for a White 58 plate with 18100 on it. The spec is - Candy White 3 Door , 18* Monza IIs , Leather and Armrest, dealer fit rear parking sensors. No CD Changer in this one which is a shame but there are plans afoot already regarding changing the stereo! Heres some quick pics - will get some good ones when the sun is out and Ive gave it a good wax , which I will add to a new thread in the Members Rides area. Unlike the Red one , I DO have plans to mod this one , the stereo being the first thing.

Hi, I have an RCD500 mp3 for sale if you're interested which has the built in 6 disc changer.

Going to put in the for sale section once I take some pics, want £80 collected or can post at extra cost.

Hi Nodz , cheers! I'm going 'sort of' aftermarket , I've had a good offer on an ex display VW approved Kenwood unit thats been on the Audio stand of my local dealer , I think brand new they are just over a grand fitted , well I can have this one , which is perfect but just an ex display one , for £499 fitted. Just waiting to hear when its coming off display , I'm assuming theres a new model out that supercedes the one I'm getting but it is still a good deal as far as I am concerned!

Is it this one? http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/car/vw/

If so I had a play with one the other year at inters, was in a Kenwood 'Rocco and thought it was a good system, I just didnt like the USB at the front so you had trailing leads from the HU so went OEM with the RNS. But at £499 you can't say no  :happy2:

Aye thats the one I think , if not , its similar to that. I know what you mean about the leads , its not ideal but as you say , for the price you cant go wrong.

Good question! In my new one everything just feels 'tighter' , if you know what I mean? Everything from the gearbox to the sunvisors seem to be just that little bit nearer to what a new car would feel like. I didnt think i would notice the difference but I do - dont get me wrong  the 2005 car only had 53K on it and wasnt a baggy old knacker , but there were a few squeaks and rattles in it and everything had loosened off fully , its a small but perceptible difference that you would probably only notice after swapping straight from one car to the other like i did.

Was the new one from a dealer? How did they react to a same make/model trade in? I know some dealers can be funny when you offer an older model of the same car for trade. At least from my experience anyway.

She looks a beauty. The only other colour I would have considered when I got my Red Eddy. Monza's look like new fella, watch those kerbs. 18k miles on a 4 year old!! :congrats: Has the previous owner/garage done your Camebelt/Waterpump for you?

 :happy2:

Yeah it was a VW dealer who specialise in GTIs GTI World @Western VW , Edinburgh so they were fine about it. I was only half way through the finance for my last one so I just switched it over and pay a bit extra a month for a newer car.

Yeah its just been done , as was the service that was due , the car was registered on Haloween 2008 so both the Cambelt and service were due. Its also got a full years MOT and Warranty , and , since I bought it on finance , I got 2 free services and MOTs thrown in , result.  :happy2:

Okay , change of plans , not getting the Kenwood now , so Im looking for another stereo upgrade , possibly an RCD310 or 510 DAB with an MDI unit....
