Since polishing my car the other weekend ive noticed a lot of small stone chips and scratches have appeared.
So whats the best polish to mask these ? As i dont want to go around touching everything up or go to the expense of a respray.
Or have you any other ideas ?

Pay £300+ for a Correction detail on your car and you be Stunned with the results. (as long as the scratches aren't deep)
-
As monte said a correction detail will make a HUGE difference. £300 is a lot of money though and theres smaller companies out there who are pretty good for a lot less money.
Failing that, try AutoGlym Super Resin Polish it has the red label and can be easily picked up from Halfrauds. It contains fillers which fill in the defects on the laquer to help reduce swirls and light scratches.

I use poorboys black hole on my car with good results. Follow this with poorboys natty blue paste wax for a lovely gloss wet look:-)

I just did my Black Pirelli this weekend. Used Poorboys Black Hole followed by Dodo Juice Blue Velvet wax. I bought a starter kit from ebay for under £20 delivered!

It makes a massive difference. There is still evidence of some scratches but they are massively less noticable and many seem to have dissapeared.
I don't think you will get a polish/wax combination that will make the scratches go away but this seems to come close.
I think I will be looking for a full detail towards the summer but this has made a big difference for now.
I would have put some pictures up but I have an 80 mile per day commute and the crappy weather has hidden my hard work already!

I'd be more inclined to use CG Black Hole to as it carrys filler and as its not a proper correction just beaware that compounds that carry filler do not correct nor last for a long time.
Definatly Look to wax it with something, Purple haze as some one above has said is a good bet.

Really new to the detailing.... Just used to clean my old heap with wash and wax..... But just picked up a black gti.
Do you need to apply something over the wax when you have applied it?
Thanks

Wax is your last step dude, it's everything before that!
-
Ahhhh ok! So it goes polish then seal then wax! Think I get it now!
Sorry to ask more stupid questions (and hijack the thread!) but what is everyone's shampoo of choice? Need to get some to starting washing along with a lambswool glove?
Thanks again

There are so many good shampoos, I don't tend to stick to one brand. At the moment I'm using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss, which is very good.
-
Shampoo is variable. I love Duragloss and prefer it over BTBM. Others like BTBM. A good one is Megs Gold Class from Halfrauds.
As for sealant/wax, it's usually enough to do one or the other, not both.
-
:happy2: +1 for Meguiars Gold Class.
A touch on the pricey side (mine came with a security tag!) but very good.
-
Thanks guys, i guess you use a lambs wool mit? is the Meguiar one any good?

You will be very very lucky to find a detailer that will do a full correction detail for under £300
(Can take up to 3 days)
"This detail includes a paint correction treatment via an extensive machine polishing stage – swirls, holograms, micro-marring and scratches are removed, using the safest tools and techniques. This is a lot slower process as every defect that can be safely removed is so. Once corrected to the highest level the paintwork is then burnished to add a level of gloss and depth that is second to none. The results of this process can be breath taking and in many cases leaving the finish better than brand new vehicles in the showroom".
You can get great results by paying for a 1day detail (sometimes called an enhancement detail) cost about £150-£200.
This could be the detail that Lm-gauci is referring to.
"This is the most popular option as it includes a single-stage machine polish. It offers a first level removal of surface defects (oxidisation/swirls/holograms), leaving sharper reflections, added gloss and depth to the vehicle’s final finish. It is achieved by selecting a pad and product combination to suit the vehicle and its paint, which offers a level of correction whilst also offering a level of refinement at the same time ensuring a fresh defect free finish. This is where you start to see the benefits of a professional detail".
