I was visiting my wifes grandma in hospital today, i parked up at the hospital car park which was next to the STAFF car park.
I cut through the STAFF carpark and as i was walking through, for some reason my eyes always seem to be drawn towards vag metal. It was a 57 plate audi a3 2.0tdi quattro. Upon getting closer i looked down at the wheels for some reason, to my horror i saw this, couldn't resist a picture.

This was the rear drivers side tyre. I was stood there thinking to myself, "fook me thats taking the pi55"
Anyways, looked at the other rear and saw this.

And yes that is the chords showing all the way around.I was absolutely gobsmacked and disgusted that someone that works in a hospital can let their tyres get in this state knowing the damage that this could cause to not onlythemselves but other road users, pedestrians etc. Knowing that they get fatalities and Injurys in probably every day. Makes my blood boil. How on earth they haven't been caught is beyond me as those were the REAR tyres and clearly visible. Bearing in mind that i noticed
these with a quick glance, how the owner hasn't noticed these is beyond me. Wish i was a rozzer, i would have hung drawn and quartered the fookers. Rant over
-
Some people don't give 2 sh*ts about cars and maintenance. Those tyres are shocking!! :surprised:
-
That's nuts. I'd have left a note saying you would be informing the police, in the hope it would sh*t them up enough to change them.
I don't really get how they can get that bad between MOTs. Even if they were on the limit last MOT surely the rears can't deteriorate that badly...
-
Ill put money on it that its either a dodgy MOT or his/her mate has a spare set of wheels.
Can you not report him/her anyway with the photo evidence?
Sorry but I would.

no idea mate, but i was in two minds wether to. Surely even the dodgiest of mot'ers would tell them to do 1 with those.

Its not as if the car was a total nail either.

Easily done, the driver is probably the only user of the car, they get in and out the drivers side. They never see the passenger side, and only go to the rear to fill up.
Big time worth a note on the window.

Bullsh*t. Lol. It's the drivers responsibility. You can't just plead ignorance. Even with a hire car you are still meant to check for valid tax and decent tyres.

both rear tyres were fooked. And how the car was parked in the bay it was unmissable. Let them try telling Mr Plod "they never noticed". Suppose they'll notice when one goes pop

I suspect there's one or two of Her Majesty's finest lurking on here...
Changing the subject completely, which hospital's your wife's Gran in? Are they looking after her? Hope she gets better soon.

Woah steady on my little internet warrior, I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying that's my guess on how it's got to that stage.
You think if you give a motor like that to a women who drives 40 miles round trip daily to a shift, my money goes on they don't know how to check the water, let alone anything else.
I'd say for some who are just ignorant when it comes to cars, they wouldn't even think of looking.

not good mate, all the family are on a bedside vigil as she's been told she's got a matter of hours to live. Thanks for asking though mate.

I hope they do get stopped and ticketed for it. But I learnt something at a very early age - "Never under estimate the power of stupidity"

x2.... its not easily done at all! Its so bleeding obvious....

To us, yes.
Play devils advocate for a second.
My brothers girlfriend drives a KA. She drove the car for a week with no rear bumper, and stated she didn't know it was missing.
Trust me, when you're not expecting something and take no care or interest in your car, that is something that can be missed.
However wrong it is.

Yes you're meant to but not everyone will. One of the girls at work is just not interested in cars. Doesn't check fluids level. Doesn't check tyre pressures. Just drives it. It gets serviced same time as MOT. She wouldn't even think to check tyre depth or be aware that the tyres were worn.

Don't feel bad about it.... you could be the one saving them from that very accident!

Probably a female driver. I would have left a note stating the condition of her tyres

I agree it happens. But I do not agree its easily done. People can't just plead ignorance on this kind of stuff because they have no interest. Part of the responsibility of being in charge of a 1.5tonne killing machine.
Someone could not plead "I have no interest in cars, so don't check" if they wiped out a car on greasy country roads. There is just no excuse for people being like this. It should be mandatory on the driving test for these to be tested as well. Show someone a dangerous car, and the pupil should have to point out everything.
-
I also go along with what moz is saying there are people out there that just get in and drive not thinking twice about what is on the outside of the piece of metal they are driving. Until they wipe someone out or get stopped then that is when they go "no officer I didn't realise they where that bad"!!!
When I bought my zafira Vxr the front tyres where just has bad has in the ops pics actually glad I changed the engine cos I hate to think it had been thrashed to within an inch of its life?
I also would have gone in but would have been curious to see who owned the car? then reported them.
-
my cousin has a citroen c1... she drove all the way from london to birmingham with the boot open and never realised. thats just how stupid women can be :pomppomp:

Probably not gone in for an MOT yet and it gets serviced two years after registration. Surely you'd feel or even hear that something is off?
-
afraid i see it all the time at work now

It's a 57-plate though, so it will have had MOTs.
-
Insurance would be invalid too if this car had a prang of any sort...... :stupid:

This is the point i just dont get with some people. It is a motor vehicle that will require attention sometimes. They look down at the fuel gauge to refill it dont they. Im sorry that just doesn't eash with me im afraid. Feckin idiots. My missus knows absolutely jack about cars, she is neither one bit interested in them but as soon as the slightest rattle occurs she is on to me to find out what it is and get it sorted.
-

You'd like to think so. A few months ago I was walking alongside the A38 in Brum (40 limit) and heard a thwok, thwok, thwock, from behind. I turned expecting to see an old beaten up Fiesta. It was a 4 year old Honda Civic Type R with 18's and his front left was completely flat! To the driver it must have felt like he was driving on cobbles. Must have been pulling heavily to the left but he kept going.
I don't know about you guys but I can tell if one of my tyres is a little under pressure before the Tyre Pressure Warning flags it!
-
I have a friend who's a fitter for Halfords, I hear some horror stories from him  the excuse of 'not being interested' in cars is not valid as it's their responsibility under the highway code, which they agree to abide by when they receive their driving license...and everyone mows their lawn and hoovers their carpets whether it interests them or not

That is so bad! Seen a few about... Not good as winter approach!
-
We had a lady drop into our site with a brand new Audi.
Complaining of a flat tyre, not surprised as the rim was totally ruined and after 15 minutes of pumping air into the tyre she decided to have it removed to which the entire inside of the tyre was gone.
Some people just do not care to look and are totally oblivious to it no matter how many times you say its the drivers responsibility.
