I want a iphone 5 as a next phone but my gf has a S3 its very good does loads of stuff. Iphones have much better games tho. Id say get a iphone because i want one but id say try each one out firdt to see what you like. Hopefully no one will argue over what phone they think is better 'cos that's lame.

It's going to happen though

on a grown up note  I did have a look at the IP5 when considering my upgrade and it looked decent enough, however the major factor that put me off was that I had a go with my friends' workmates who proceeded to tell me he was paying £46 per month plus an extra tenner per month for insurance! sh*t the bed, for the minutes/texts/data I could have got an S3 / One X for around £32 a month if I'd haggled a bit. No matter how good the 5th iPhone is, I don't think its worth paying over 1100 quid over a 24 month contract
mind you, some people might think I'm mad for paying 12.5 k for a 2008 car when I could have got an Astra VXR of the same age for 2/3 of the money

Here's a spanner for you!
Nokia Lumia 800 Windows phone, I've had one for over a year and its a cracking phone. I don't like android, always looks a cheap rip off the iphone to make it worse i can't stand iphones. Don't know why, just don't!
Let the abuse begin. :scared:

here we go again :popcornsoda:

I had a s3 for about 3/4 weeks.
Sold it and got my self a iphone5.
The s3 is a great phone I just missed having a iPhone.
I wouldn't say that one is better than the other, just get what ever you like the most.

I went from a 4S to an s2 to and iphone 5 and back to the s2. For me I just preferred the 4.3" on the s2, the overly long iphone display felt awkward in use and even though I've had every iphone since launch, I found going back to it after android it felt a little basic, designed for people new to technology but for myself it felt like i was using software with parental controls all over it.
Shocking as I'm the biggest apple fan boy out there and my work colleagues really enjoyed that fact.
I'd give the s3 a go although I'd wait for the black version to come out. Make sure you download swift key 3 though as the standard keyboard is very poor after the iphone one!

You have to play with both to get an appreciation. I can't stand Android. All the menus have no conformity. Back button does random things depending on the app/screen.
Ive had iPhones since the 3G. I'm certainly not new to technology with my job what it is. But my iPhone just works without me having to piss around with millions of widgets. I also have an apple ecosystem I like with iTunes/iPad/Timecapsule and MacBook.
I tried Android, hated it. So I'll stick with my iPhones for the near future. But it's all about preference.

Phones are down to personal preference at the end of the day. I have had the enjoyment of owning iPhones (3 & 4). Currently have an S2. Took a while to get used to it but really do like it now. Was thinkin of getting the iPhone 5 but as I recently bought an iPad (which I love) I will be keeping the S2 until the 4G S3 comes out. Also save the cash as I can probably get the S3 from work for free at next contract renewal and stick to my sim only plan.

Great shout mate :happy2: Just downloaded it on my S2 and on first impressions its seems much better than the standard one.

Both are great phones.
The build quality on the Apple is far superior than the Samsung, which is kinda important seeing as we are all forced to get 2 years agreements now.
There are more features on the Samsung but many of them require another Samsung to work with.
Depends what you want really.
If you want full control over your phone and lots of techy bits go Samsung. ( Although there is currently an exploit out, where someone can text you a link that wipes your phone ha )
If you are going to be running Windows 8 at home and at work, I would look to using a Windows based phone as the integration is going to be amazing.
If you want a phone that is going to last and do everything you want it to do well ( maybe not perfect as it has to be done the Apple way ) go Iphone.
I went Iphone 5, tried the Samsung wasn't swayed. And since my last iphone 4 lasted over 2 and a half years, travelled the world, was used as an Ipod to snowboard with so has seen all extremes of weather. I am happy with my choice.
I am not an Apple fan boy.. I hate Ipads and all that they stand for! Piece of crap, limited wastes of cash!
I recently won an Ipad through work and gave it to my girlfriend that same night.. She is a techy retard and loves it.. pretty much sums them up tbh.

bump :p
I'm really stuck on what to do.. I'm due upgrade... I have the iphone 4s, the 5 is hardly any real change just little better all round.. I'm use to jailbreaking it anyway which gives me everything. The screen is just small which is my biggest woe.. the android apps are just rubbish compared to apple?

Which apps are you referring to? I find them very similar, there aren't a massive amount of games but then I hate touch screens for games.
Ipad apps are definitely better than their android tablet equivalents as they are generally just phone apps.
I can't think of any apps I lost changing to android, sky go took a while to officially be compatible with ICS but I like the fact my tv apps allow streaming over my data tariff whereas my iphone told me I needed to be on wifi

This is just what i have been lead to believe.. there are many, many more for ios than android too? :ashamed:

I've thought of an app not on android, santander banking app. Apart from that I've not missed a single one. I think for the majority of people there is everything you need and seriously wouldn't worry about it. I like the fact I could put all the n64, snes etc emulators on by simply downloading the program and roms, never managed to get it working on my iphone, not that I used them once the novelty wore off. No substitute for a joypad

For me it comes down to preference. Have a good look at both phones and see which works for you. I feel both phones are equally matched. Theres little in it personally.

I bought the i5 64gb and a sam3 for the wife quality of the 5 is phenomenal, previous had a HTC desire which I thought was good qual but it started to fail after 15 months which isn't to bad really. Apps are better than android, the s3 is to big the smaller version coming out might be worth a shout, only thing I would change on the 5 would be to make the screen wider instead of taller like my old desire.
