Bumped my mk5 today and damaged the front end. Really mad at myself and I wanna cry... :sad1:
All the effort I have put into this car...
Insurance are on the case but I want to make sure they fit the correct parts and help where / if I can. All mods are declared but I'm afraid they might just write it off.
can anyone help with part numbers/ diagrams of the r32 front end:
Bumper
Chrome grille
Upper grille and badge
Lower grilles
Slam panel
Wings (mine might be ok)
Bonnet
Any fixings associated with the above.
Any help with the above appreciated. Going to the dealers tomorrow but not sure how helpful they will be.
The damage:

there are many associated fixing but i can't list them all sorry, etka on ebay is only about 5-7 quid mate perhaps invest in a copy
-
Hope u get it fixed alright :(
-
Si, you're a legend! Thanks.
The slam panel is the metal framework behind the bumper, that everything attaches to.
I do have a copy of etka but it stopped working. Updates stopped working and the application no longer runs. Typically when I need it!
Thanks for the help so far! Appreciated.

Got prices from Vw, parts alone come to £1300 not including xenons which I think can be saved with a tab repair kit.
Off to repair shop tomorrow for evaluation for insurance repair.

Do you have a TPS near you, most of them will serve the general public and give you a nice discount on all of those parts, but some TPS's are funny F@@kers and won't serve the public?? its a trade chain run by VW so all genuine parts for the VAG group.
-
Good idea, I'll have a look! I'm worried cost of repair will end in a cat d write off. Not sure what the limit on repairs is. Its s certain % of the cars book value.
So any cost saving I can make will help.

Any photographs of the damage?
-
Yeh, I'll post them up shortly... :(
Edit: pics added to first post :(
-
The biggest part of that cost will be the grill, it will probably be on back order as well :fighting: last time I checked 5 years ago when I got my golf it was over £450 :sad1: I think its gone up to more like £500 mark or over.
Try and find one on eBay should bring the costs down
Sorry to here about the bump mate hope you get it sorted

There is a bright blue bumper on ebay for £89 just now & a Chrome R32 grill for £255. Hope that helps - Good luck with the insurance & the rebuild

Jason, I work for a scrap yard that has a complete front end for an r32 in stock at the moment. Not sure on the price but the company is based in Southampton if this helps.

Quick update.
Car has been into the VW approved repair shop. Turns out they have access to ETKA too.
Considering the bump was low speed (5mph or less) I have damaged nearly every front end body part.
Good news is, the xenons can be saved with a tab repair kit!!
Bad news is, the total repair, including parts / paint / labour is around 3.5k!! I cant believe it!
That's for genuine VW R32 part numbers too, including bumper, grille, bonnet, slam panel, wheel arch liners and under tray!
Oh, I've persuaded the repair manager to order me a hole less grille too, although he hasn't actually confirmed he can 100% get one.
No chassis damage though, so just bolt on parts.
Now waiting on insurance to approve!
Once repaired it will be better than ever, no stone chips etc!
Hopefully will get the go ahead for repair next week.
In the mean time, im buzzing round in a peugeot 107! Its the most pointless car ever.

Quick update.
Total repair cost quoted at 3.5K :(
Should have it back on Wednesday, including smooth grille :D
This 107 courtesy car is horrible. It's like driving round in a vagina

It took around a month to get sorted, but I have my car back, repaired by insurance to a very high standard by vw approved body shop.
Repair was all bolt on parts, no chassis damage. She now looks better than ever, no stone chips, like new.
Out of the ordeal I got a hole less r32 grille too.

Total repair cost was just over 3k! :( I really thought they were going to write her off.
Now to mount my plate with magnets...

Perfect! I'm glad it's come out better than new :P and your happy with it! The plateless grill looks good, and a good bonus :) surprised the body shop didn't fit the plate? Good to see you back on the road! :D
-
Thanks :)
I made a big point about them leaving the plate for me to fit. I was worried they would just screw it on lol.
The grille turned out to be around £500 inc vat!
