Title: what's a good price for brake discs and pads? Dealer saying £249..
Post by: Homer on October 18, 2012, 08:35:45 pm
Hi so my dealer is saying if I want them to replace my break discs and pads for front only it will cost £249... What price can this be done out with the dealer with OEM parts? Thanks.

The price you have been given is the fixed price VW charge for cars over 3years old. The rears are £239 fitted. I've just been quoted the same to have mine replaced allround. Been trying to look on ECP for parts cheaper and see if i can get someone to fit them for mates rates.

Brakes are brakes and i dont fancy trying to learn without guidance from someone knowledgable.

I use to have a Honda and dealer was quoting similar prices, I went to a car part place got the parts and got someone to fit them all for under £100 all round. I have no idea if it was OEM parts though and sadly no longer in touch with the guy who use to fit them.

Yeah go on ECP and use the oilspill30 discount code for some new brakes and pads. If you know someone to put em on for mates rates you would save yourself a lot! One of my mate charged me £50 to change all four for me.

With something as simply as brake discs/pads & general servicing, you are better off investing the £100 in a decent Halfords tool kit and doing it yourself.

ECP sell pretty much everything at 30% discount, so you'll save yourself and absolute fortune!!!
