I have noticed recently that the tyres "bite" and the ESP kicks in upon aggressive turn in. There is a roundabout that leads into an industrial estate by me which allows you to carry quite a lot of speed onto it and then due to all the handling mods you can make an abrupt turn in. Recently, though upon this manoeuvre the tyres will bite/make a scrabbling noise and the ESP momentarily kicks in whilst you rectify it.
My tyres were around 3mm and I was going to change them anyway in Dec for winters/ followed with some brand new PSS/F1's etc in March.
Would the above signify tyres on their limit?

Even tho the UK limit is 1.6mm some European countries limit is 3mm, so that would suggest that they are probably getting beyond their best in wet/damp weather.
Personally I would say hang it out and take it easy until you put your winters on and get some new rubber in the new year.

my thoughts exactly Nodz, but defo seem to be getting more wheel spin as well and having to try feed more in more than usual, so will be taking it easy for time being by looks of it.

You will get less traction as the tread depth diminishes. Therefore the sensible thing to do is to drive accordingly.
I usually manage to get down to 2mm before changing tyres.
