Title: R32 Rear Bumper Question
Post by: Wolf Burger on October 19, 2012, 10:20:01 pm
Hi All!

Question regarding the lower section of the OEM R32 rear bumper.

This as we know consists of two sections.

1.) The lower actual bumper that is colour coded and holds the two red reflectors
2.) Black plastic central exhaust section with central cut out for twin exhausts.

Is it possible to fit the above to a standard GTI but buy a black plastic exhaust section (Item 2.) for the standard exhaust outlet.

I see Red Robin has done something similar but using twin double exhausts.

I love the R32 rear but would prefer to keep the standard side outlet. Any pics of this would be great if available

Thanks  Mr W.Burger  :drinking:

This is just the sort of thing I am thinking.
I could keep the standard exhaust and buy a side outlet trim (Could then change to a central exhaust if I wanted later)

Do you just adapt the rear exhaust to go with no rear exhaust outlet??

I believe to get the "clean look" like below you use a back box off a TDi Golf as their tips curve downwards

Here's a link to SRS's R32 inserts
http://srs-tec.de/cars/VW/Golf-V/Rear-diffuser:::12_58_86.html

And to Osir's:

Also to have any exhaust configuration other than the R32 central twin pipes you would need to adapt the rear bumper. Really easy to do, basically the bit circled in the pic below needs cutting off as other inserts will not fit and the standard exhaust or quads rub against it aswell

I've gone the same route as Robin with quads but I've got the matt Osir insert where as Robin's is gloss. I got mine 2nd hand on here for £100 but if you want new they are stupid money where as srs are only 169euro and quality is apparently good.

Here's a cheeky pic of mine:

beleive it or not thats the same colour as the 1st pic

Now that's how the Gti should have looked from standard!
