Post by: blackthorn on October 25, 2012, 10:04:35 pm
Hi guys,

Bought myself an edition 30 last week but whe i got it the engine light was on but i was told it was to do with the exhaust system, so i got it on vag com yesterday and it came up saying the cat but since its the 200 cell turbo back RSC system im thinking it could be the lambda sensor? has anyone had any problems with lambda's running this system? i.e does it need a spacer? heres my engine spec:

APR RSC turbo back echaust
Autotech HPFP
Uprated intank pump
Evolution bov

GIAC remap
Uprated paddle clutch
VWR diff
VWR engine mounts anti lift kit

I would have thought the code was an efficiency too low code that would usually be written out in the remap.  I guess the map is a  stage 2+?

It's probably a P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). OP can you confirm?

How much do u think it would cost to get it mapped out Craig?

If its apr then you would have 2 go to an apr supplier to get it done , at the moment as far as i am aware the only places are down in England at the moment , I know eco tune are becoming apr dealers soon in scotland so you could probably get them 2 do it shortly and should not cost you anything as u have an apr map ... might be best to contact eco tune

I'm in the middle of contacting eco just now but having looking at my recipts the car was mapped at Autograph cars - "Autograph custom turbo charged ECU remap" how ever i will sound like a noob here as ive never owned a turbo car before, what is GIAC?

GIAC are a tuning company who offer remaps.

You need to find a GIAC dealer and have them re-apply a stage 2+ remap with the LAMBDA sensor removed.

Alternately, you could go for another companies remap, if you fancy something fresh.  You'll very likely get a decent discount as well for swapping from a competitors map.

Star to GIAC ( so you might have to unfortunately speak to him) I may be wrong but pretty sure GIAC maps are all generic and not specific to a car or supporting mods. Get along to Falkland, speak to Kev and go stage 2+. I changed from GIACto revo and the difference was a lot.

yeah thats the price Kev gave me Craig, but he said revo may drop the price soon for winter by 20% so that would be about £480 so lets see if they do that first... ;)

Nah £599 is without vat at 20 percent if im not mistaken :) so it will still be £599 all in... Could be wrong tho ;)

Gee i asked Kev twice if that would mean £480 and he said aye as the £599 was with vat apparently...

check exhaust for leaks. ive had an apr rsc for 2 years and cel light has been on all that time. kept thinkng it was just the remap , but got it up on ramps on saturday and found a dirty big leak at join in front of cat between the two lambdas. seal fixed. light now gone.

had it up, dosen't appear to have any leaks but had it on VAG COM since the stage 2+ map and the 2nd lambda appears to be on its way out however i think that has just happend as it never showed that up on the first VAG COM session it just came up with the thresh hold which has been sorted out by revo

EcoTune fully APR functional if you're near Glasgow. If you bring him your current receipt you can switch to the APR stage 2 map which will eliminate this code for 50% off regular retail price :) 249+VAT sound good to you?
