Not a fan of the Monza's my self(got edition 30 alloys on my mk5) but how about the ''new'' style monza on the mk6 ?.
-
They are just monza 2's with blask inserts instead of grey. Greenhouse did a set, think he sold them now though
-
....
Mine are powdercoated Smoked Chrome. I got the dreaded white worm on my originals. There's lots of pics in my thread : -

I like the black look, but wouldn't know If I'd want, gloss, matt or satin!!...?????
Have you got any close up pics of your rims luca?
Good write up RR, like the ones that resemble the mk6 style (black inserts), but then I wanna keep it more mk5 rather than mk6 ig you know what I mean.
-
Heres the closest ive got, satin is inbetween gloss and matt. :happy2:

-
Will try and get some in the next few days, needs a wash first

Has anyone ever put a set of dark gold/bronze rims on a red one? I've seen a few red motors throughout my time with a bronze coloured wheel and they looked quite good if I remember correctly. Want to get my Monza's refurbished and was considering it to be a bit different.
What ya think? The shizzle or sh*te? Not sure if some Photoshop god could adjust Luca's pic to bronze?
-
That colour seems to go well on a red f430 scuderia. Not sure if the monza would suit it as its quite alot of alloy if you know what i mean. A wheel with thinner spokes or maybe pescaras would suit better :happy2:
-
Nice, quite like the tornado red against the black. I'm hopefully going to be the owner of a tornado red GTi on saturday.. come's with 17" monzas but thought maybe monza 2's with anthicite face's and black recess might look pretty good  :jumping:
Sam :jumpmove:

I thought VW actually do genuine Monza II's in smooth matt black!...???

The German Edition 30 had Black Monza IIs.

He does have a set of black monzas with a red rim I believe.

I'm looking to get mine re-done soon but unsure how - original, black inserts or smoked chrome - the only thing putting me off smoked chrome like RR's is loosing the sharp edge of the inserts - but I plan to ask if this can be kept and just maybe get the faces smoked chrome - the only thing with keeping them diamond cut is there very likely to white worn in the future again.
-
I have the black inserts..
And honestly, everyone who has seen the car, has made a point of saying they look really good! So i would get them.. Its worth it.

you could have cleared up a bit first
If going on a platinum grey car though do you think they black would look as good or the grey would be better ...
-
Cant remember who's pic this is...hope you dont mind.

I want to get some 18's and put the black inserts in,
Are those originals, or copies though as the black doesn't look quite right on them in my opinion.

....If you want two colours with a sharp edge between (to inserts), the ONLY way this can be done is to have the whole wheel painted any colur and to then diamond-cut it back to the alloy and clear lacquer it.....And wait the white worm!
If any wheel refurb company tries to tell you that they can achieve a sharp guaranteed edge between two colours on the Monza's (not by diamond-cutting), stay well clear of them!
HTH - It's all in my thread if you read it thoroughly.
-
I personally don't think you can beat the look of the diamond cut finish beit black or grey. As already said, European Ed30's came with a satin black Monza as per below.

^^^^
I much prefer the satin finish to either the matt or very glossy blacks on the German Ed30 'Monza's' (Huffs?).

I was mearly putting my view across about re-furbished one's and as you say the problem with Diamond cutting is they wont last that long on the UK roads, it only takes a slight chip - it was the same with the BBS RC's on the 25th Anniversary which also makes you wonder why they do it.
-
am loving the black satins!
but this is one of them decisions that will make you go crosseyed :rolleye: everytime.
i think RR's look amazing ..mmmm but then so do the black inserts....mmmmmm but then so do the.........
and then theres bbs's..... is this what a woman goes thru with shoe shopping???

How about powdercoated Smoked Chrome with a delicate dusting of Nurburgring Red DS2500? : -
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FRedRobin_05%2FNurburgring2009%2FRingRed_brakedust.jpg&hash=95f83bacbd6b403be9706e18d6b16ee3fd7884bd)
-
sorry RR, but looking at those in the picture makes it look like its caked in brake dust.
I like the shadowed inserts as well as the black ones.

Think that's what he meant when he said:

RR's got a thread somewhere about his rims when they were newly powdercoated. They look great in the flesh.
-
....
Yes, I was joking about the brake dust from my DS2500's after lapping Nurburgring.
[Thanks, Stealth :happy2:]

Regret selling mine know
