I usually put my car in the garage every night. Its typical that the one night that I cant be bothered and I wake up in the morning to find out that somebody has nicked my bootlid Edition 30 badge! Absolute scumbags. I am just thankful that the paintwork isnt damaged. I am shocked that somebody would steal something that probally isnt that expensive to buy.
I have missed the VW parts departments opening hours, so wont be able to phone them untill monday. Does anybody know roughly how much these are to buy??
Cheers.

U can buy them off eBay for around 11.95 posted. Genuine too

It's probably kids, I remember when I was at school people used to nick them off cars and swap them with each other or sell them to other kids.

Count yourself lucky mate it's not a Pirelli the badges are £60 from the dealers and I am still waiting for a replacement 2 years later . . . !!!
-
Keep an eye out incase you see any corsa or Saxo edition 30s floating about :signLOL:
At least there isn't any marks or scratches from them taking the badge off so it will just be a cheap fix

:surprised: I think I'd resort to some decals from VC if the badges were £60, and there was a chance of it being nicked again.

Someone tried to nick the one I had on my grill but I think I disturbed them when I shouted out "wtf are u doing". They just scarpered. :fighting:

Don't forget to ask VW for the badge location measurements, get some masking tape too :happy2:
-
I didnt think about looking on ebay. As long as they are genuine I will order one. The car looks crap at the moment as I havent had time to remove the sticky foam.
Can VW supply these dimensions?? Do they just print them off for you??
Cheers.

^^^^ if your boot still has the sticky bit from the badge, just measure up and then across and you'll be fine for putting the other one on. Sounds a bit anal but when I replaced my GTI lettering on the boot I used a spirit level and masking tape to get it level, using the top of the masking tape as the bottom line on which to place the lettering.
EDIT: if that doesn't help use this "how to" on badge placement, use the measurements for the lettering "FSI" as to where to place the EDITION30 badge.

Cheers for the help but i have literally just bought one. It was buy it now at £11.95 including postage. Not too bad. Hopefully should get it at the beginning of the week.

Man. you are so lucky they didn't damage the boot. They normally don't give a sh1t, and just get any old tool behind it and yank it off, scratching or even denting the bodywork.
As far as gettting the dimensions right for the sticker, well worth getting from VW. I have seen so many V6 4 moitions where they've got it badly wrong,it spoils the whole look of the car.
Glad it's a simple job for you :happy2:

markymark,
Do you have a part number for the Pirelli badge? I contacted my dealer and they quoted the "parts bulletin 0-172" which they didn't have. Also appeared to have no clue as to how to get it.
I e-mailed VW UK and they said "Contact your local dealer!" :stupid:

Unfortunately I don't have a part number, when I went into my local dealers they took the chassis number from my car and ordered it via that. I think they contacted VW Germany directly and it's still on back order. :happy2:
