Title: Mk5 GTian....
Post by: RedRobin on October 28, 2012, 12:56:08 pm
.
Forum member and very big enthusiast Ian, had a near fatal accident at home about 10 days ago when he slipped on his kitchen floor and cut open the back of his head on a granite work surface. He was found by a friend and rushed to hospital. The wound became infected but fortunately, although the infection was apparently the hospital's fault, they saved his life.

He is now at home and obviously has to take it easy as he slowly recovers - It could take a couple of months but his future is looking good healthwise. He works for himself but many of his clients are standing by him I'm glad to say.

Anyway, if he doesn't post here as often as usual, this is why.

I'm sure that many will join me in wishing him a full and speedy recovery  :happy2:

I read this on the 'Big meet 2013' thread in the Show section , but get well soon mate sounds like a nasty accident. My cousin went into Wansbeck Hospital for a routine op and caught an infection as well , took him over a year to get over it....

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I was very touched to read them.

I've only been on the Forum for about a year, but I have met some wonderful people, and look forward to meeting a lot more of you soon, especially at next year's mega-meet. The sense of community on this site is really special, and a big reason why I bought another Mk5 GTi (apart from the fact they're brilliant!).

I was so gutted not to be able to make JKM yesterday, I'd been looking forward to it for  months! However, I would never consider driving such a distance when feeling as groggy as I was yesterday, for the safety of other road-users as much as my own. I hope to be back at work by December or January, and I'm going for short drives in the GTi when I'm feeling ok.

Finally a big thank you  to Robin for taking the time to ring me today and find out how I am, and letting people on here know why I've not been as active as normal!

Thank you all again,

Ian  :happy2:
