Hey guys...
I have had my Gt Sport (140) for just under a week now and the wipers do not work on the automatic setting..
I have read up about it and im aware that the VW auto wipers are well know for being awful, but mine don't seem to work at all, I havent had heavy rain as such but Ive had the windscreen fully covered in water to the point where I cannot see and nearly crash as a result of waiting patiently for them to work lol, the next setting is far to fast for moderate rain and flicking the stalk down every 10 seconds to clear the screen is a nightmare...
Anyone able to help? Im thinking maybe a dirty sensor however I don't have a monkeys where the sensor is to check/change it?
Please help :)

You have to turn the auto wipers on every time you get in the car. That means putting it in the 'auto' position and adjusting the sensitivity (the little rocker at the top of the stalk). Left being the lowest sensitivity. If you've done that, get it scanned on VCDS (diagnostic software). The sensor is located on the windscreen and attached to the rear view mirror. I think it's unlikely to have failed.

dont think i reset mine every time i start the car, you need to set the arm up to the intermitant setting one up then move the time delay as for to the left as you can then the auto wipe is on dont think it works if the time adjust isn't on the far left

Try a scan with VCDS, put up your location as there will be someone nearby. Good excuse to activate coding changes too :happy2:
I'd guess at the wiper stalk having a dodgy flick switch, or the auto sensor isn't detecting the droplets - is there anything blocking the sensor (base of interior mirror)?
Do your auto lights work as expected?

I had an air bubble between the gel pad and sensor so the wipers didn't work. no fault showed up
changed sensor and working again

As Nasir stated, with regards the sensitivity, moving the little lever over to the right makes it more sensitive to rain and moving it to the left makes it less sensitive, meaning it takes a lot more rain to get it going. Perhaps yours was on the least sensitive setting?

I leave my wiper stalk permanently in the auto (intermittent) setting & adjust the switch on top as necessary, if its not reacting quick enough or not wiping enough then I just knock the stalk up to the next setting which is constant slow speed wiping. The auto wipers don't need resetting each time you start the car & the little switch on top can be in any position as it just alters the sensitivity

Yea the adjustment slider does feck all in my case.
Time to check fuses and sensor now as the auto setting literally does nothing at all :(

Sure its actually fitted, I know some newer GT sports didn't come with the auto functions :fighting:
Is the sensor in the screen behind the rear view mirror and do you have the Auto setting on the headlight switch??
