Whats the rev limiter on them ?
On my 1.4 TSi its high reving and cuts out at about 7600rpm
Thought after about 6000rpm it loses its power.
Just interesting to know :smiley:

If you have a DSG the limit is 6400 and then it automatically changes up - unless you remap the DSG :evilgrin:

I've seen a little over 7k when pushing ahead in S mode...

Is it not true that when you change up on the paddle but then keep hold of the paddle it will rev higher... though I heard somewhere that this is how you do a DSG on the rollers?

The super+turbo-charged 1.4 has quite a big turbo for a small engine (to get the biggish bhp figures) so can hold boost until quite high revs. Hence the supercharger to fill the hole at the bottom end.
The 122bhp turbo only TSI has a smaller turbo.
So in basic terms, the super+turbo-charged engine should re-map really well due to the large-ish turbo.

Pretty much but the box will still upshift around 6700rpm...

1.4TSI remaps to just over the 200bhp mark. I drove a 170bhp version when they first came out and I was quite impressed (was in the Golf GT).
anyway back on topic :wink:

Yes - i have 170ps verison.... i got 190bhp on the rollin roads at Superchips meet. Its remapped and using V Power. Wasnt too impressed cause they said 198bhp after remap. Surely if im using V power as well... it should reach 200bhp +
Revo remap claim 205bhp.. and im hoping a bit more when using V Power.
Gonna have it done by them once ive saved up... saving all the money i get this next 2 weeks to help pay for my fitting of new kit :happy2:

From RR's i have seen i would say you would be better off changing earlier

^^^Does that mean the optimal shift point (in an ED30) is 6000rpm?
It's something I've been meaning to ask but never got round to it. Given that the DD run was done in fourth gear, does this affect the optimal shift point? Or is it the same for each gear?

Best bet is to find the max speeds for each gear and then what revs you go to when changing down. The optimal shift point is one which puts you in the power band for the next gear. To late and you will overshoot and to early and you will lag.
You want to be coming in about 4600 going by that graph fo optimal power.

Power mods on the ED30 like the HPFP, intake,exhaust etc all help to increase the power and help shove the peak power higher up the rev range. Mine was still increasing in power at 6542 at S/Chips when they knocked it out of gear for the rundown.
