Title: Statller Golf RS project
Post by: Statller-Stevo on November 03, 2012, 02:46:18 pm
Hi everyone, I thought we would share an exciting project with you all which we have just started today, we don't normally have the time to do this but there will be two projects in particular I think will be of interest to all you petrol heads on here, please do understand I'll do my best to upload as we go along but due to massive work demand it is hard to do this sometimes
The aim is for a fully road legal time attack / sprint car stripped with two seats fully caged, engine spec will be 520-550hp for the first season then fully built for season 2 final power target is around 650-700+hp 99.9% of the work we will do in house only paintwork will be shipped out

Just a simple little 74 hp granny chariot as you see it here

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fp558%2Fstatller%2FSDC11628.jpg&hash=a1f10c7d12a29bb26044ce6513747d0deb052d3b)

Craig taking some aggression out on the interior stripping earlier (must say looks a bit startled )

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fp558%2Fstatller%2FSDC11632.jpg&hash=b0edad831b76903b7ecddc2809a8e4a883b5c73a)

Here's all the bits we don't need again

 (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fp558%2Fstatller%2FSDC11647.jpg&hash=0ec3b875e7dec81741d95ad57d49dc74d156f690)

Here's the new interior look for now

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fp558%2Fstatller%2FSDC11642.jpg&hash=9e3ef33ca866e220f37f651d380b5f99d639d943)

Here's the little 74hp put put

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fp558%2Fstatller%2FSDC11636.jpg&hash=b96f834472dd8bdce9652f2940fa2ea601b8ae30)

And here's what's going in along with the seven speed DSG, 4WD and all associated traction + launch systems

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fp558%2Fstatller%2FSDC11643.jpg&hash=8f37b5a3886230b284826aac1b4ed46c81da984b)

Will keep everyone as up to date as possible on this project

who is going to be mapping it?

would love one of these engines!

what ecu version do they run?
Title: Re: Statller Golf RS project
Post by: Statller-Stevo on November 05, 2012, 06:21:10 pm

Its an MED 9.1 ecu
Our tuners will be Giac or Revo as we are dealers for them both, it depends who wants in on the project really

Loba have some tricks up their sleeve turbo wise it won't be a turbo set up anyone's seen from them yet, the second stage will be something very special

We won't have time to set the car up properly for time attack in 2013 I'd guess the following year for that, we have a lot to learn about the sport and set up but its something were very interested in getting involved in and slowly working our way up to be competitive and hopefully what we learn we can pass on to the more extreme fast road / track cars we set up etc

The car should be good for Marham and Inters 2013 but in a relatively low state of tune probably 530-550hp + sub 1250kg weight is the target for 2013
then we'll plan to up the power but most likely build something into the car similar to the pic below a totally custom front clip for the suspension set up etc

Fair play, look forward to seeing it in action.  Im going to get myself to a few timeattack events next year all going well.  Spent far to long out of the country this last year and half, so im due to turn up at a few events this next year.

Any plans for a One Hit Wander in 2013?  There are plenty of Sprint racing series knocking about which will prove good for some testing.

Heard a rumour that there was a turbo getting done....

Is this the one that Darius sketches on the back of a serviette in restaurants and fine tunes whilst eating his cereal n the morning, the one he wants to build but just needed another nutter with something suitable to bolt it to.....

That turbo.......?

Should be good...fancy doing something interesting brake wise as a joint project with some of that stuff you've got stashed?

You also going for wider front wings, might need to with Rs3 running gear.

Hah you got it Dave I think you know Daz too well by now, remember one of the best cars ever built was scrawled out on the back of a napkin in some airport to start with  so nothing wrong with that idea  :signLOL:
The drill is to fit 100% of the running gear so all brake MC + ABS etc will be carried over
P.S don't you worry about the width of the front wings!  the ideas I've got floating around my head at the minute I'm worried about finding wheels wide enough !!

Dam right Si you deserve some fun mate, you enjoy yourself bro!!
Yes we'll deffo be taking it along to the sprints even before its properly finished! I know it'll be fast in a straight line it's getting it to handle really well in the twisties that are going to take some time to fine tune

The only thing with the sprints is you maybe only get 4-5 goes in a single event, so whilst you can go balls out without the risk of other cars impeding your lap, you cant test and adjust that much i guess.

Will you be driving the car yourself?

Hi john ,cool nice one so wish i lived near ,statllers ,hows you car coming on ,you gota bt yet ?

Just been down to Statllers today. Steve Jr is back on with his Edition 30 doing some prep work in readiness for Inters. I have my fingers crossed for an 11.XXX Ed30 this time around if Steve can get enough traction off the line.

My car is still on the K04. I wanted to be the first K04'D car in the UK to crack into the 11's  before going with a bigger turbo. So watch this space at Inters.

That should be easy enough shoudnt it?  If a 12.2 is possible without WMI then just add WMI and race fuel and that should surely drop it into the 11s

Yes, I would have done it at the GTI Spring Festival if it hadn't been for the silly headwind and me deciding to leave the 19 litres of race fuel at home!! :ashamed:

Back on topic.

Steve was planning to get back on with it after Inters, but I know he is mad busy at the moment, so I'd guess it will be hard to say really.
Although I'm excited by the prospect.  :jumping:

Hi Everyone, sorry I've not posted anything on this car for a while, due to workload we've only just managed to get back onto it a few days before Xmas
There are just loads of great builds going on here now, you guys really are doing some great next level stuff

Ok the plan with this is pretty much the same as it was before, nice daily driver that can be quickly transformed within a day or so to a  fast sprint / track car then returned back to road trim quite easily

I'll run through a few things here and keep updating regularly from now on, we also have another interesting project build I'll start a new thread on later in the year

Shell stripped and mods for AWD

This is a great build. I soooo wanted to 2.5tfsi mine but I couldn't find a donor at the right money so I ended up forging my original.

Hats of to you great job.

Once this is done, and in road trim, can you inform Volkswagen HQ that we would all like the next Golf R to have a bigger brother in the form of a 2.5 TSFI Golf RS... We would all be very grateful if you could. Many thanks.

Never.....I'd lose for sure. LOL  :driver:

Probably will do a run against it. But I think it will be quicker. It will have more power, torque an less weight than my R.
