Title: Lowering options for bad road use?
Post by: podgemasterson on November 04, 2012, 06:23:12 pm
As above,
Im from ireland and some of my local roads are shocking to be honest.
I want to lower my gti a little and was curious what the best option would be to go lower,
without killing the ride and not having to crawl on the rougher roads?

Cheers lads

I've got VWR springs & they are great. Might be selling them soon for a set of bilsteins:)

What sort of money are they?

Is there much of a difference in comfort and ride?
And also how much of a drop added to gti suspension?
thanks!

I have some bad roads round my way and I've never had my car scrape (even with 5 adults in).

H&R -35mm springs I'm using.  :happy2:

Not sure on price. U can check the VWR site or I can check the receipt I have. I'd say they lower by around 25mm or so.

Sports springs  :happy2:

They are progressively wound so the ride quality is only marginally harder than stock. I've not got any pics of mine, although I've found a link to a car with them on:

Cheers man, appreciate this  :happy2:

Any negatives with the sport springs?

It will put more strain on your shocks & bushes which will mean they are more likely to require replacement at some point.

The look and handling benefits make it worthwhile for me  :happy2:

Well i can live with that no problem!  :happy2:

I'm on my phone so it's inconvenient to check myself, but how much are the springs?!
