Anyone got this?
I have been hearing a lot that the air filters decrease performance in the lower revs. Is this Air Filter the same? If not can anyone reccomend a decent one that works well in both High and Low rev range, is it really worth it?

Cheers all :happy2:

Dont bother with panel filters mate. If your gonna do it get a whole intake such as the forge or ITG to see decent improvements :happy2:

Ok mate cool, How much would one typically set you back? Would there be improvements over all rev ranges? Cheers

Agreed, or if you don't want to spend so much then there is the Neuspeed

I put this kit on our K03 GTI as I didn't feel a need for the ITG or Twintake on a stage 1 GTI.

Interestingly i was told the complete opposite by a vw indy technician and that a full CAI is only worth it when going stage 2.

A good intake should get you about 5-10bhp across the range even on a stage 1 map.

interesting, thanks.

I'm not sure I agree with that but each to their own.
If a panel filter allows more air flow than stock air filter surely that can only be a positive thing?

Any proof of that?

Course I dont have proof my friend, do you?
note. I assume you already knew i wouldnt have proof.
Do you have proof a panel filter doesnt let the engine 'breath' better than a stock air filter?
note. i have no clue of the answer.
I was going by the what the mechanic I use told me.

How is a panel filter going to let more air in!!!maybe because of the material it's made from but tbh I wouldn't waste money on buying one..it's either get the whole thing or don't bother..just my opinion mate

haha! you are probably right! i just went on the say so of the mechanic!
It does sound better!! as i was getting work done there he gave me one for free (out of his mk5 gti) as he has gone stage 3 with full CAI.
anyway, looks like I will be getting one myself now!!

I know of someone who ran on a dyno without one and then followed this up with a run with a panel filter. Same readings give or take 1 bhp.
If you really want to know log your MAF using VCDS before and after fitting a panel filter, personally I wouldn't bother.
Just fit a brand new OEM Ed30 filter.

I had a K&N panel filter and have since refitted an oe paper filter. I cant feel any difference in performance but my mpg has gone up slightly
