Title: Retro fitting of heated front seats.......
Post by: Polo6n1600i on November 07, 2012, 08:52:18 am
Just been browsing etka & eBay.de. I've found a full kit inc the looms and switches, but they are pretty expensive. Just wondering if anyone else has taken the job on??

I'd like to do the exact same thing! I'm assuming the kit you are looking at is suitable for leather seats?

I looked into it and heating elements were going ti cost an arm and a leg from vw like 200 a seat then I still ha to buy climate control unit the kufatec loom(which is apparently for lhd cars so need modified to work) then you need the loom from the elements to the seat base where it plugs into the kufatec loom it can be done but I reckon buying seats with elements in them would be easier and cheaper than trying to fit elements into your own seats. There is threads on here about it and I'm sure the people who fitted them will gladly help you out good luck

I'll go find the link - they were listed at about 350 euros for a pair of mk5 elements, loom inc switches and everything to make them work - had a vw part number on some of the parts too.

And now I can't find the link!!

It had a loom, 4 heater panels, a control unit (?) & a different dash panel - does that sound about right?
