Post by: GTI_UK on November 07, 2012, 08:52:02 pm
Has anyone fitted these:

What do you think? What is the quality like?

Looks like you will need some extra bits to make them work, its only the headlamp unit.

as above, this is only the shell which is hardly cheap - imagine what the 'guts' will cost...

AUT controll, LDR control unit, Glow lamp & an ignitor..... - Sounds expensive.

I can get a slight discount due to knowing someone who works at ECP.

It does have the LDR unit installed but would need Ballast, Igniters and bulbs which can all be bought used.

I guess my thinking behind this is that I could buy used from ebay for circa £500 or for similar money I can have brand new casing?

The alternative is Hella look xenons as these are for a retro fit.

Thoughts? Advice?

If you've got a spare 500 then crack on however personally I'd rather put that money to use elsewhere!
What are you putting them in a gti?

Yes a GTI - I guess we all have preferences. Normally my money would go on performance mods but it's really the mrs' car and we both want better light output without blinding others.

Xenon's are what I want - just trying to choose the most cost effective set up.

i.e. OEM Look Hellas with HID vs. OEM Used vs. OEM replacement new.

I think the OEM used vs. OEM replacements argument is won by OEM replacements
