tightening up the filter today and CRACK,now is this lickely to be the part the filter sits in or the housing thats attached to the block,i could see oil ousing out but was too dark to confirm which...anyone else had the same issue??
-
The plastic housing on my ed30 cracked whilst attempting to undo it with a socket.
It's great design (plastic FFA) meant I had to buy a new one.
About £35 iirc.
-
is there a part number for it?
-
Am I right in saying someone makes an alloy replacement APR or neuspeed rings a bell... Plastic housing + heat into metal thread = cheap fail!
-
06D 115 408 B filter housing
:happy2:

I did exactly the same cracked around the hexagon. Its a real bitch to get off if you have nipped it as there is no space to get in. Have you got it off? I paid about £40 for a new plastic one.
-
going to remove it tommorrow to check ,theres a small oil drip now so something has cracked
-
Any news did you get it off?
-
Even VW technicians manage to break these as it happened to my car whilst in for a routine service and i was left with the only courtesy car they had left at the time. Polo diesel non turbo.
if you have to buy another may be worth spending a little extra for piece of mind.
