Title: Now a mk5 tdi owner :)
Post by: Kemnaychris on November 10, 2012, 08:38:02 pm
Hi to all :) hope this the right section fir introducing myself

Its a 1.9 tdi in united gray remapped to 130 19in 3sdm copys staggered i believe bigger at rear coilovers at rear standard front shocks and springs is charcoal cloth all round and roof etc

Owner said no service history but to open vw book it has full vw service to 111 tho miles by vw in Peterhead Scotland what a bonus got the car for 3650 has original sheets and maintance stuff when new and was recalled in 05 but only shows a code why not a reason with a vw stamp Peterhead has

1 dent Nd tiny bit if rust at arch near sill pretty clean tho

Hi I just wondered how to tell r bits and r32 parts as my golf I bought has a longer rear spoiler in a different gray and a r flat bottom steering wheel with dsg flappy paddles could do someone a swap maybe as i wont be upgrading stereo just get ipod connecter and a set of rear tinted lights I believe and r32 exhaust with twin pipes and hols cut out don't think it is a r32 valance

Think I got a bargain for a late 04 with only 118 tho miles with the history and extra am well happy :)

used to own a race Toyota starlet gt turbo k reg brought a tear to the eyes when I finished breaking it this afternoon :-(  was forged the lot very high spec spent over 50k in parts and labour but came off that wagon to a sensible diesel lol baz300 has been at me for a long time to move on from race scene so I broke my car made a small fortune but not even near what I spent :( I love his gti since he got it I wanted one but not same of course as I now do a lot of miles to the wife's :-)

I am called Kemnaychris on tgtt uksc and ukso been on them forums for many years

Well any help on problems of what to look for on the diesel range let me know the common faults and what to look for when buying one cheers :)

Any info would be handy on the following

All the lights inside car are blue how gay it looks how do I put it back to standard what bulbs do I buy ? Or LEDs of ebay?

Looking for full gti interior 3 door the tartan Burberry cloth as not a leather man :)

Need a gti front grill and bumper too

Need a rear r32 bumper proper one not copy as someone cut bumper to fit r32 exhaust

How do I get front and rear Crome badges off so I can get them either painted or vinyl covered

Welcome along!

As for the LED bulbs, £20 ish for a complete interior set and plate bulbs, dozens of peeps have them (including me) with no problems from a chap called Matt, here is a huge thread....

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,51319.0.html

As for the rear badge, depends if you have a flat VW emblem (they don't come off) or a 3D version which is easily removed with a flat bladed knife worked in between the 2 sections and carefully levered up all the way around.

Get some pictures up of your portable nightclub toilet!  :P Id like to see the exhaust and how they did that! What does it sound like on a TDI?

Also with the rust mate, if its all original paint, VW's come with a 12 year bodywork warranty so its worth taking to VW to see if they will do it under warranty.  I got a very tiny bit on one arch that I need to see if they will do it under warranty when I get round to it

I don't think VW will touch it as we found out that the previous owner has cut away the lip on both front arches to fit the wheels  :sad1:
