Title: Mass air flow sensor - Passat 20v related.
Post by: swgti on November 11, 2012, 09:05:30 am
Warning light and ecu check are showing up a intermittent fault with the MAF on my 2003 Passat 2.0 20v, this probably explains the stalling issue I sometimes have too.

Is it just a case of simply replacing the MAF unit or is there any setting up I need to do afterwards?

Also once replaced will the warning light go away on its own or will I need to reset it? can this be done manually by twiddling dash stalks etc like you do to reset service message?

IIRC some people recommend removing the battery for 30mins to allow the ECU to recalibrate afterwards.

I would just replace the maf.
iirc if the car goes through 3 cycles of running without getting a same fault code then the dash warning light should extinguish itself though the fault code will remain stored in the ecu.
