Hi there. This is my first post on this site after years of very useful browsing :)
Have a bit of a problem, can anyone help:
I have a 2007 Golf GTi Edition 30 (1K).
It came from the factory with MFD but no cruise control and a standard steering wheel.
I decided to fit cruise control and noticed that my steering wheel control module was a: 1K0-953-549-BC. This is the only one, according to ross-tech, that “Does Not allow cruise control retro fitting”. So I managed to source a new steering control module 1K0-953-549-AH as the software level is the same (SW 0070), it’s a Midline and the slip ring is “Type 2” the same as my old module.
I then purchased a new cruise control stalk from VW: 1K0-054-690-A
I did not need to fit the diagnostic wire, as this is pre installed, and after coding via VAGCOM in both the:
16-Steering Wheel (from 0000012 to 0000042) and
01-Engine (from 0403000318070060 to 0403000318070160)
I went for a test drive. However, for some reason even after clearing the steering fault and resetting the steering angle, the cruise control would not work at all?
I ran the following diagnostics and no faults were found, also the correct coding for the cruise control was present:

Does anyone have any ideas. I am at a loss.
Thanks in advance.

is your slip ring is a C version?
I wouldn't have used an AH on a car with BC
-
Yes, the slip ring is a "Type 2" C version.
The Control Module itself is from a 2007 Audi S3 that a friend of mine retro fitted a MFSW to, hence the need to change the module, so it should be compatible according to the Ross-Tech FAQ guide.
The only other thing I can think is a faulty stalk from VW? But I would have thought this would throw up a fault code in VAGCOM?

the AH cotroller needs a D version slip ring
what sw hw did the bc have?
-
I thought either slip ring would be okay. I did have to re calibrate but the fault went after that.
Either way, I just swapped back to the BC control box and the cruise works fine now :)
Not sure why the AH didn't work as the SW version was the same 0070, a bit annoying but all sorted now.
Thanks
