Nice thanks for the help, there a bit more than I thought they would be to be honest

Is it hidden I don't have any steering wheel controls so how would I answer the call?

I have the RNS and you answer by touching the screen.

What age is your car? As you might also need a new can gateway to stop the stereo from draining the battery when the car is not in use

You will be able to use the iPod still, just plug it into the back of the RCD510

Oh and the Bluetooth kit on that link is ace, I have it with my rcd510 and rate is very highly

Think I'll get the Bluetooth module but may have to wait with Christmas coming up.

I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread but my RCD510 has arrived today and looks mint but is it just plug and play correct me if I'm wrong but all I need is a T20 torx screwdriver?

I've seen a vid on YouTube but it doesn't have the vent on the top of the dashboard like mine, just the tray???

I have a 08 Gti

Yep just the torx screw driver and some trim removal tools would be handy just to not damage the plastic but not essential

For the too vent gently lift it up around the edges and it will come out leaving you with a lower tray that has the wheel for the top vent in it. There is a screw right at the back the holds this in. Remove this then left that section up to show the front facia fins where the other two screws are. The rest should be like your video  :happy2:

Thank you

I'll attempt it over the weekend but I only have a screw drivers to remove the panels but I suppose I'll just have to be gentle.

I used a screw driver the first couple of times - a thin blade would also work
